They'll work fine (for some stuff) without your iPhone nearby. Moreso if you buy a model with a cell modem in it.

Now people will claim they got "Wrist Cancer".

Actually, I miss having a watch. My wife got me a watch I really liked for a wedding present, but it broke. So I haven’t worn a watch for a few years. Maybe I just need to get a decent watch.

Just get a decent watch. I have been wearing a lower end Tag Heuer for many years, i never take it off. Wwhere as the tech of a smart watch is kind of cool, i dont want to have to charge it everyday. I think the novelty would wear off quickly.

Every time I think I want to pull the trigger on a smart watch I decide it’s a novelty. The fitness aspects of it are nice but I’m just not sure I would ever use them. (In reality)

I’m starting to collect watches. My goal is IF and when our portfolio hits 7 figures is to treat my self to a Breitling...

There is just something elegant about a mechanical wrist watch. Especially in this day in age!

After watching TIM COOK behavior, it is time for me to transition to Samsuck phones.

I just got my second Movado, not on the uber-nice level, but love the design. Even if I only wear it 5 times a year...

+1. Tag is a great watch at a great price. I just don’t have a need for another phone strapped to my wrist.

I just bought my wife a 4 series but I haven't played with it yet. I got her the cellular model which will up her cell service $10 monthly. I do love the idea of being able to hop in the boat or run to the grocery store and the watch will get you by. The only part I really can't wrap my head around is the battery life. The idea that I want to use the watch to track my activity during the day and my sleep at night. When do I charge it??? That's the only reason I've held off. A lot of people love them though!

Maybe they should look into an inductive charging system embedded in a mattress pad.

I bought the first gen. Didn't like it at first as I hadn't worn a watch in YEARS. Got use to it. Its actually nice wearing a watch again! When I would forget to put it on, I really did miss not having a watch on. Getting the notifications is in deed nice. Used it more than I thought I would. It did add a level of unexpected convenience.

All that said, I don't even know where it is now. Havent worn it in over a year. Would like a newer model but they are overpriced IMO. Leads me to believe that while it was nice and convenient, apparently not enough to get another one. I probably will eventually though. OR I may just start wearing a watch again. That part IS nice.

Concerning Mr. Cook, I couldn't care less who he sleeps with, I just don't like his policies, political outlook and apparent distain for the country. A common thread of the left.

I have a very nice Citizen watch that I love.  I never wear it.  Why?  Because I also have a Samsung Gear that I really like.  I like 3 things about it.  Tracks steps.  I didn't use the full gamut of features on my old Fitbit, so just the steps alone works for me (It will do more but I don't use those tracking functions).  The ability to change the watch face.  It is not ugly and square like an Apple Watch.  It looks like a real watch.  I replaced the band with a nicer band as well so it really looks nice.  I was able to find the watch face that I really like, and if I grow tired of it I can just change it.  3rd thing I like is reading texts.  When I am working and I want to read a quick text, its perfect for that, not so much responding.  But it is nice, and also useful when out for an evening or at an event.  I can check quickly without pulling the phone out and no one is the wiser.

As far as charging?  Come on now, it just sits in its little charger.  I don't have to plug it in or anything.  You take your watch off every night anyway, don't you?  Instead of placing on table, you place on charger.  Doesn't get any easier then that.
