I'm planning on using a Sony XBR43X800 as the TV in a home office setting. Client wants to be able to mirror his notebook screen wirelessly on the TV. He hasn't bought the computer yet. What's the best way to accomplish this? Not opposed to adding hardware - but if there is a reliable solution using native features of the TV that would be great. Since computer is not yet purchased, is there a brand or feature that we should be looking for?

Even though I'm a die hard Windows guy, for reliable screen casting Apple is the way to go.

I use Air Parrot A LOT. never an issue. works every time. Windows 10 laptop through apple TV airplay.

Microsoft miracast dongles work pretty well for like $60.

That TV has chromecast built in. Ask the client what exactly they want to cast. If its just websites, they can easily just use chrome to cast to the TV.

Pre-android I think so. My X850B has Miracast; somewhat more reliable than the Miracast built into an older LG I also have.

Second Air Parrot for Windows and AppleTV.
Also check out Reflector by same company. You can mirror your iPhone to your PC. Ever run back an forth to a rack to check if somethings responding? Now you can have a PIP showing your iPhone camera pointed at the component and view it on your windows programming PC, and all you need is both on the network.

Crestron AM-200, but might be overkill in home setting.
Appletv for me is a bit finicky on the samsuck. Chromecast does work well with my samsung J7 phone.

I downloaded air parrot for my win10 laptop, but couldnt find air parrot app in the atv 4k store EDIT: Nevermind.. my ATV wasnt showing up, so i just tried to connect with the IP address and it worked..

Airparrot allows a window device to airplay to an airplay ready receiver, no app required on Apple TV.
Reflector turns a pc into an AirPlay receiver allowing you to mirror a phone to your pc.
Both apps run on the windows machine, no app needed on phone or Apple TV, those just believe it’s all Apple stuff.

Recently read up on using a Roku for casting from a device and that sounds like an option.
Apparently a Firestick is also a way to do this.
Going to try it at the beach house next week.

I sent my laptop to roku this morning messing around. Even used it as a split screen so 75” sony was 2nd monitor. Used a hp laptop running win10
