Have an install with two rooms of 4K Directv, Sony ES AVR's (5000, 2100), Sony A9F TV's.
We're having an issue with the DTV setup. Things work fine watching and changing channels, in and out of 4K etc., until turning the systems off (either system).
When you turn either system on and try the 4K channel the DTV has a pop up that says "Your TV doesn't support 4K content. You are watching it in 1080p, the highest resolution available".
We've tried changing the order each device turns on, etc. with no luck. The one thing that does seem consistent is when you turn off each device (TV, DTV, AVR) by itself then back on the only one that "triggers" the DTV 4K message is the Sony ES AVR, consistently.
We tried changing to HDMI output 2, etc.
BUT, one thing that "seems" to be working in turning on Zone 2 (even though we aren't using it for anything). It was late but I accidentally turned on Z2 and noticed when I left it on the message didn't pop up when testing. I tried about five times. We left Z2 on for now and we'll do more testing tomorrow.
Another weird thing is we are having some trouble with both AVR's consistently getting on and off commands. We're using ip control. We've used the ES with ip control before without any issues. Still playing with delays, etc on this issue. It may or may not be related.
Also, for what it's worth we tried a Yamaha Aventage 1050 (few years old) and it didn't cause the 4k pop up message after trying about ten times.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the AVR set to enhanced mode?

I believe it was "normal" BUT I know we were messing around with various settings.
What are the optimum settings in the AVR, TV, DTV receiver??
Headed back to the site this morning, would love to resolve this one!! Thanks!

I think the better question is does anyone actually have DirecTV 4k working consistently?

Multiple Clients with C61's that tell them their Projectors arent 4k... their TV's dont support 4k. and the unit wont sync with brand new TV's.

DirecTV blames the Cables. The HDBaseT, they come ut and put their own in. it still doesnt work. they swap out the Genie. They swap out the C61's.

Their 4k Sucks. their installers suck. their excuses suck. their customer service sucks.

oh how the mighty have fallen since the merger...

Check with Sony tech. As I recall, they may have a solution.

I have been getting a fairly steady number of calls from clients saying the PQ on some channels looks bad and are getting occasional slow channel changes combined with occasional video loss. Go out there only to find all the output resolutions checked. Uncheck all but 1080p, all is well.
Couple days later, same complaint, same issue. Have one guy that is legit mad at me about it.

Between that and their equipment getting profoundly slow, I am pretty much over Directv.
I am a trained professional..... Do not attempt this stunt at home.

Having same issue with C61 connected to new 2018 Frame TV. I believe their last software push is buggy to say the least.

I’m totally over Directv.
AT&T is slowing killing them. Tech support used to be poor but now it’s unbearable and a complete waist of time to call them anymore.
Is Dish Network any better, they claim to be “CI” friendly.
