What are the correct video settings for the Apple TV 4K when connecting to a Samsung Frame TV? Also using a B-540-EXT-230-IR to get video from ATV to TV.

Cant get a pic. Other sources like the cable box pass video just fine.

4K HDR 30?

That extender won't support many 4K resolutions as it's only 10.2 Gbps total bandwidth. What's likely happening is that the TV EDID calling for 4K60 HDR, the AppleTV is outputting that signal, and the Balun is unable to pass it.

You can try connecting the ATV directly to the TV and picking a different, lower bit-rate, resolution, and then moving it back to the head end. But if the AppleTV ever reboots you'll be stuck again.

ATV 4K has a synch issue. If memory serves correctly, it has two HDMI chips, a version 2.2 and an older version. Itís supposed to correctly pick the correct chip when connected the display. But with certain devices it gets confused and doesnít work correctly. Call Brent.

Tough to call Brent when it's not his gear though.

I thought the safe route on the 4k Apple was 4:2:0, or whatever is the most basic that still produces the 4k res. And with that extender, it needs to be 4k 30.

I'm having trouble with Apple TV taking a long time to sync on a 2 Zone HDMI matrix in a Yamaha amp. All other 1080p video source no problem. Even when I set Apple TV to 1080p the syncing can be very slow. You're saying if the Apple TV loses power it will also lose the 1080p setting?. A couple of times I saw the message asking if I want to try 4K HDR without it having rebooted. It would be nice to figure out a trick to fix this or else I'll just scrap the Apple TV and use built in Smart TV.
