buzz has it. In general our clients are untrained, so double the volume is more likely to be in the rabge of 10 dB.
That was found to be the case a long time ago but then, there's the loudness vs intense issue, too. Our hearing is subjective and it varies from one person to another. I think training allows better differentiation in the smaller increments.
