Hey y'all, long time no see. I'm here, that means I'm stumped.

A long time client is hooked on Xfinity's voice command remote, made by UEI. From what I can tell, the two different types Xfinity uses are the only remotes UEI is making these days.

Does anyone know of a universal control system that works with the xfinity voice commands, or do I tell her to have two remotes on the table?

Two remotes on the table.

Sucks, I’ve seen an uptick in clients being ok with this. A lot of folks love their X1 voice control

I just tell them voice works on URC also. Just say, “Honey, can you change the channel to ESPN?” Works every time. Kinda.

We disable the voice commands on every box we set up.
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.

We do to. Mostly in an attempt to not have anyone want it lol. Nothing is more frustrating to walk in a controlled environment and see two remotes on the table!

We've also moved from DirecTV to Dish also because Dish is native alexa. (among the zillion other reasons to dump DirecTV lately).

I have been told that Xfinity is going to be releasing an API for third party control of their voice integration. When, I have no idea but I have been told it is coming. I will believe it when I see it but an integrator can dream, and hope it does not turn into a nightmare.

If the Cable box is nearby we tell them about the voice feature with the X1 remote. If the cable box is not nearby we dont mention it unless they do and we tell them "unfortunately it wont work".

So far this hasnt been a big deal but it wont be long before we absolutely have to be able to give them voice control. Hopefully the control system makers figure this out or we will be giving clients one of these for their coffee table.

BTW, if the distance between the cable box and voice remote is “on the fringe”, where it works sometimes, when it actually fails, the cable box may need power cycling to restore it!

Yep. It would be even cooler if the Alexa integration on dish actually works

The Xfinity remote is made by URC...

The only way I have been able to overcome that remote is with Urc Total Control.

They have favorite channels that work great.. Awesome on the touchscreen
