record the two MAC addresses you are getting. I can guarantee you they are the same two alternating. not a third or fourth rogue MAC. they can bounce between wifi and ethernet

I was about to ask RH if he had ever seen more than two such addresses in the several systems he's worked with. I was guessing that's what I've seen in the past. Thanks for clarifying this.

(LAN is wrong term)

Very good point. Two common ways of constructing a LAN are to use Wifi and Ethernet connections. So... you don't switch between LAN and either of those other terms, though I see the temptation to equate the idea "LAN" with wired connections, since that was the first way we learned to make LANs.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I had my main Genie unit change its IP address.  It was reserved in the router outside of the dhcp pool, then one day I lost control of it and found that the receiver had a new address within the dhcp pool.  upon further inspection, it had a different MAC address.  To my knowledge, this unit doesn't have wifi capability.  It was/is connected to the network using the Cinema connection kit/MoCa.  I was not using the ethernet connection on it.  That might have played a part in this.

Even the main unit? I have the HR44.  I never set it up on my wifi network.

They all have WiFi but it won't connect unless you enable it. Similar to a printer that has both Ethernet and WiFi.

Anyone still having Genie networking issues? Don’t think Directv has come up with a fix yet.

Funny that you mentioned "similar to a printer".

At our beach house, the printer ceased working, and upon doing a little digging, I found that the WIFI was now disabled.

No idea how or why it turned off.

Genie has ALWAYS had network issues (going back to the HR34, which didn't even have WiFi built-in). They are not going to fix anything (especially not AT&T), it is working as intended for them.

By the way, HR44/54 Genie (and probably the new HS17 as well) have 4 MAC addresses. There is the WiFi MAC, Ethernet MAC, MoCA MAC, and a server MAC (not sure what hardware in the Genie that last one generates from).
And has been noted on these & other forums, those MAC addresses don't always follow their physical connection. Somehow the receiver will switch to one of those MAC addresses for no reason, even if that physical layer is not technically being used. It is some wonky crap!

I have no idea if they have fixed the network issue yet. And the biggest problem is we wont know when they do! Its not like there going to notify anyone. Im not about to put any of my clients systems back online until im sure the issue has been resolved. Pretty stupid problem to have. Till I know the issue has been resolved I'll run IR.

Didn't realize MoCA has a separate MAC Address.

On Sunday a client text me after rebooting his Genie DVR because of no Internet connectivity. Then, I notice his Ruckus APs randomly going offline. So, I had to disable Ethernet connection on Genie via managed Ethernet switch and blocked Genie WiFi MAC address from Zone Director. Once I blocked the Genie from connecting (both wired and wireless), his network stabilized.

Luckily I had this much visibility and control of the network. However, it's really difficult to explain all this to a client. Frankly I don't understand why this is happening, but possibly an STP issue, like with Sonos on occasion.

Not sure if this is related but yesterday we had a Genie HR54 lose serial control via usb connection. After 3 reboots it started working again.
Something strange is going on with their last software release.
