Ive got a Samsung Frame QE75Q900R TV And a Denon AVR-X2500H AVR.

An apple TV, a satellite receiver go into the AVR and we also use smart TV on the Samsung.

The 2 are connected via an HDMI cable.

I want to use ARC to get the smart TV back from the TV to the AVR. I dont want to use an optical audio cable go from the TV back to the AVR as it can cause lip sync issues.

Is it possible to keep ARC enabled, but at the same time disable CEC which is causing issues with the control system ?

ARC is part of CEC and when you turn on ARC you turn on CEC. I use optical all the time without issue but we use Sony and not Samsun. I try to avoid ARC/CEC whenever possible. In the new version of HDMI 2.1 you are supposed to be able to use ARC and not CEC. Time will tell but if anyone can mess something up it is HDMI:-)

Maybe you should put all of your questions for this one project into one post?

On my previous set up, Pioneer AVR and Panasonic TV. I could just use the ARC. Of course the CEC had to be turned on. But you could disable the fundamentals of the CEC controls. I forgot where either the AVR or TV, or both. Nevertheless, check the CEC on both units.

What do you use on the Smart TV that you can't get with Roku or AppleTV?

You & my boss (also our salesperson) would get along great.

ARC & CEC are the devil, and Rokus are cheap!!

But you could disable the fundamentals of the CEC controls.

This is a variation on the Microsoft answer: while technically correct, it is of no use whatever. You know, like where Microsoft says "You can_________ and then does not offer any instructions on how to do it.

This needs to be a technical discussion. "the fundamentals" is not a term that we have any definition for. What exactly (technically, that is) are you talking about?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

On the Denon receiver you can enable CEC and ARC but disable the AVR control.

Can’t say for the Samsung.

Since Marantz plays well with "ARC but no other CEC" then I would guess that Denon would follow suit. I know Sony TVs also do this well, LG has been a bit hit-or-miss, but no idea on Samsung.
