With all the options available I think it's pretty clear that the Pronto is the clear choice for most of our clients. Considering it's affordable and definitely just about the only way our clients could ever operate their systems. I'm sure many would second that.
Although this is true there is a handful ( large hand ) of clients that have choosen not to get the pronto because of cost. Yes, I primarily use Onkyo and the remote is pretty good for a factory remote but I'd like something inbetween. Looking for suggestions, keep in mind I'd like to be able to utilize my files of pronto configs for this "handful". I've seen the NEO but I don't know much about it so I'm asking.
I can only assume there's a good reason why the NEO doesn't appear on the Pronto Forum very often.
Thanks for the input.

Well, there is the marantz RC2000MKII. Pretty decent remote in it's own right.

Also the Xantech URC-2 is a good remote, albiet with numerous 'pez' size buttons..(it's only drawback). I'm looking at going to the MX-700. I have a pronto and love it (and the tinkering) but want something that simply works, and works simply...

I like the MX-500, so I'm guessing that the 700 is even better!

I have been using the Pronto in its varying forms for years and have about 50 client ccfs. Endless numbers of bitmaps, discretes, etc. Yet I still found myself spending inordinate amounts of time doing programming.

So I gave the MX-700/200 a try. I'm sold. I can offer clients a simple, intuitive remote that can be easily programmed in an hour. Some clients prefer the hard buttons and for operating a Tivo or DSS receiver it is far superior.

While the retail price of an MX-700 is close to a TS-2000, the programming cost is a small fraction of what we charge for a full blown custom ccf.

BTW, I personally prefer the Pronto Pro and thats what I use at home. My wife on the other hand hasn't touched the Pronto since I gave her the MX-700. Go figure.

The Neo has it's own forum since it has almost nothing in common with the Pronto (uses a different file format, different editor, different IR code structure....)

the 700 is a good remote, but if price is the reason, I don't think it will help and it cannot import Pronto HEX. The 500 is more reasonable in price, but it is not PC programmable. The Xantech is PC programmable, and can import Pronto CCFs, but does not look as nice as the 500 and 700.

I also like the Harmony, but it eats through batteries, and it's biggest feature is as show listing, and for that the user will need to log in at least once a week and download the new shows

As one poster above said, the super quick programming ability of the MX-700, coupled with the desire for a lot of customers to have button-based remotes, makes it a great candidate, even at $499.

And though it does not import Pronto CCFs, the programming is so quick that downloading the CCF to your Pronto and teaching the MX-700 is really very easy.

Next to that, the MX-500 is a great remote with the same high WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) as the MX-700, and is easy to program.

IMHO!
