I had an issue with my Sony TV turning on..... in partner ship with a Denon receiver that was also turning on.
The other component that played a part was an Android box.
CEC was off on the TV and the receiver. Android didn’t have an option.
Some how the Android was telling the receiver to turn on and then the TV heard that and would turn on too. I tested it by simply manually powering on the receiver. The TV would follow. One by one I disconnected all sources for the night and narrowed it down to the Android. I switched it with another android and that worked around the problem.
I wouldn’t say solved it, because for some reason both the Sony and the Denon are passing CEC commands when they shouldn’t have.
It happened when my sons PS4 updates it self in the middle of the night as well.
When I first put the TV in this didn’t happen, until I updated the firmware on both units one day. I put the firmware for both on auto update after that and it’s been fine the last few months so I’m going to say that Denon or Sony fixed the firmware.
I also switched the HDMI connection to the TV back to the non ARC/CEC input on the TV (the whole thing was brought on by me wanting to experiment with ARC - Pandora’s box).
