Anyone experience this? Seems to only happen at night. System is connected to single HDMI and hardwired ethernet controlled by C4. C4 works flawlessly but when the TV turns itself on in the wee hours of the morning, C4 cannot turn it off - the OEM Sony remote must be used. No help from Sony: [Link: sony.com]But some ideas in their forum - maybe Bravia Sync?: [Link: community.sony.co.uk]

Does C4 track states? What I mean is does the "off" only work if someone chose a source to turn it on? This would explain why the OEM remote is required to turn it off. C4 still thinks it is off. An easy test would be (after the tv turns on by itself) to choose a source to turn it on...then turn the room off.
Try leaving the control cable (Ethernet) disconnected overnight. Does the TV turn on? If so connect the Ethernet cable and try leaving the hdmi cable disconnected overnight.

I just had an issue where a 900f wouldn't turn off after 4 months of being in service. Working perfectly fine for the first 4 months with C4.
Could turn the tv on 100% but it wouldn't turn off anymore. Sounds similar to your problem.
Had to go and update the driver to the newest version to get it working properly again. No idea why it stopped working. It wasn't due to an update because I disable automatic updates.

Thanks for the feedback. Bravia Sync was on. Hoping by disabling Bravia Sync it will solve this problem since it doesn't feel to be C4 related.

It does track state, have heard complaints about this happening in the past and while annoying it didn’t seem like a big deal. Friday night, my wife called the police and sent me downstairs with a bat because she heard “a fight going on”. So I found myself in my living room with a bat, in underwear, in flashing lights, turning the TV off. Seems a power outage was to blame. I made her answer the door and went back to bed...

Actually, C4 dos NOT track power state on Sony TV's. If the TV turns on not from the control4 system, the system has no idea its on. thats why the power off/Room off button wont turn it back off. very few control4 drivers have active power state tracking.

I had a customer who had three different TV's, and they claimed the TV's would come on in the middle of the night. Two of them were Samsung and one Vizio. All of them had an Apple TV IV hooked directly to the TV, and I had CEC turned on for TV control.
Turned off CEC and of course the issue went away!

State of the TV, got it. Had read as the state of the control system which I guess would be more accurately stated as flagged... Thanks for the clarification kind sir!

I have had multiple customers claim the TV was coming on by itself in the middle of the night. The truth was, they were turning off the cable box, not the TV. The cable box had the ON timer set to 5 AM, and the TV would magically come back on.

Yeah, well, my 36" JVC was connected to a TV antenna and nothing else, and when it came on in the middle of the night, it was just the TV! So... it can happen.

so th eoleds need bravia syn off AKA CEC! then a firmware update....should be .77 or something. had similar issue but it was turning OFF...software fixed it... they say you NEED a google acct for it to work properly (which i find hard to believe) and to update app store and leave auto update app store for minimum 30 minutes.
i waited then turned network off and all was good been a few weeks now

I would delete the Sony from c4, do a firmware update if needed and look for a newer driver in c4. Then re-add the Sony.
I had this issue last year.
