Client would like to add an iPort Surface Mount iPad dock where it's not practical to retrofit wiring.  I do have a hardwired Lutron HWQS keypad that's right below the proposed iPort location.

I've done a bunch of iPort docks with PoE, but wondering if there is any reason I couldn't grab 24vdc from the Lutron QS Link as long as I have enough capacity on the power supply.

The iPort Surface Mount specifies 24vdc input (12w)... anyhone else tried something like this before???

I don't see why that would be an issue, since you're well aware of making sure there's enough capacity.

Thanks guys... I'll double check the load (number of keypads) on the existing power supply but think it has plenty of capacity.

Fredrik (Digitronic) has used the Cresnet 24vdc bus for all sorts of things including converting to 5vdc to provide USB power.

We've also converted to 12vdc to power motion detectors etc.
