Have any of you all seen any issues with Eero and Control4? I have read that Eero is on the "do not use" list from Control4 but I have never seen a reason for such. Wondering if the Control4 and Eero installers in here have seen any specific issues. Thanks.

It is supposed to have issues with ssdp and other potential communication.
My understanding is that all mesh networks create this issue

Seems to me you should never be controlling things SDDP via WiFi..... Lots of fringe issues get things on that list....

Since I would be hardwiring the eeros and any device I would be controlling via SDDP I should be avoiding the problem, correct?

i have so many projects with C4/Eero its not even funny. Ive never had SDDP work correctly for me even with Edgemax/Tiks. I just type the IPs in manually and set a reservation. zero issues

EERO recommends using the first piece as the router, then connecting the rest wirelessly. The trainer also acknowledges the C4 comments, but also said they work fine together.

so its better to have the non-router eeros connect through the mesh instead of hardwiring?

My understanding is that hard wiring all is the best option because it optimized the wireless channels and the communication between nodes was conducted on the backplane. Am I misinformed? Obviously the wireless mode works very well and quite often is the primary reason it’s used - to cover a house with a bad infrastructure. I’ve been wiring them if the option exists.

I get it to work all the time using mikrotiks.
Sony tvs and AVRs
Yahmaha AVRs
Lutron RA2 select main repeaters
Autonomics
Denon AVRs

Granted some items will show up in ssdp that don’t work but that’s a driver issue

The problem with using eero as the router is when the internet goes offline the Eeros routing functions stop working. When the routing stops working then all the IP devices stop working too.

I think they actually fixed that problem a couple of months ago.

My personal system is up to date and when the internet connection goes down, my control 4 system stops working.

That's what my notes show and that's now I set up the one system I installed- it's supposed to be configured as a mesh network.

Took maybe fifteen minutes to set up the three units, including the guest network. I have not needed to reboot them after two months and every time I do a speed test, the results are almost identical.

However, as with just about everything, it may not work as well in all situations because of the materials used in construction. If you ever hear the EERO trainer mention "a guy who talked about 'The Place Where WiFi Goes To Die' ", that was me. The house has metal screen for the lath used to hold the plaster in place and WiFi is very problematic in many areas.

Looks like they only go down if rebooted? Not that that's the level we see around these forums.

If you're using these you might want to warn people not to reboot, might make things much worse.
