I’ve got a project where I want to install a very simple, cost effective WiFi mesh.

Usually I install, ubiquity uap ac pros, netgear Poe smart switch, draytek 2862 router.

But on this job I’d like to use the ISP modem / router (as there is essentially nothing I need to do or configure on there in this project in terms of Vlans, VPNs, Static IPs etc..) and use some sort of repeaters or mesh for the wireless distribution side of things.

Any recommendations ?

Have you ever heard of Eero?

And of all the available, this one is it. Did one each in DiFM sites of Google, Orbi, and Velop- they were a real pain in the butt. Have several Eero Pro systems that have been very solid.

Knowing that Gold went up a few K makes me think "well now I have to do a better job on selling more equipment".

Thanks ive checked out Eero, but its not available in the UK. (I supposed i should have mentioned location to begin with, but didnt think it would be necessary as most products are available world wide)

Does Sonos work well with Eero's network ? In the same job we want to install a couple of "Play" range speakers, which will communicate over the wifi.

I was also looking at the TP Link Deco as an alternative, dose anyone have any experience with these ?

Just use a Boost and Sonos is trouble free.

I set up a house with three EERO, with one being the router, as they recommend. With no Sonos Boost, it works great. One of the Sonos Connect is hard wired to the EERO that's acting as the router.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

We just finished our 1st eero install - six eeros as APs and comcastic gateway as router. Also six hardwired Sonos Connects.

Pretty impressive wifi performance, but not impressed by eeros overlord like monitoring of network. (Wouldn't be surprised if there were a massive eero data harvesting operation somewhere on the backend.) Fine for clients, but would never use that for our network.

Still don't understand why eero needs my phone number in order to set up a network, and that whole access code confirmation thing is a little off-putting... I mean who's network is it anyway?

Within 24 hours of set-up eero was spamming our inbox with $99 upgrade offers for eero+ network security. Obvious eeros marketing to know nothing end users.
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.
