In a nutshell, if you cannot read a conclusion, there is not a lot of islamic jihadist trying to get through the southern border, but some middle easterners have been detained. It is only a pathway that needs to be controlled and monitored. As of right now, not a big issue, and that is not the way Trump spoke about it. He was wrong the way he said it. I am not an NPC and go full in with anyone. I don't follow him or believe him or anyone 100% . I do not watch late night shows anymore because of the politics.
We live in a time with truly awful corporate media and the crap has spread like wildfire through academia too.

I live in a rural area 25 miles southeast of Portland Oregon and the violence in that town makes me not want to go there.EVER!

I'm a second degree blackbelt ,have a concealed carry license,and feel I'm fully capable of defending myself in any situation but I have no desire to deal with these idiots.

This is where people can get into unnecessary situations, often willingly -- just to test their defense wheels.

I'm not a martial arts person and I don't own a gun. I can recall one late evening situation on a well lit major city main street when I was approached by a very drunk man demanding that I walk in a side street. This was clearly a racial challenge. "Decking" this person (who had already thrown an inept punch) would have been a one handed affair, but about a block away was a pack of his friends egging him on. This could have developed into a major confrontation if I had physically engaged with him. I moved to the side street.

Always keep a can of whoop-ass handy. Learnt that at church camp.

I had this very discussion with my neighbor and I don't think there is any one thing you can a finger at and have the correct answer.

I believe this is the result of the over all moral decay of our society. 30 years ago we had shotguns and rifles in our vehicles in the student parking lot and never had a "gun" issue because it's not a gun issue it's a people issue.

I wish the solution were as easy to point the finger at Trump or Clinton or Obama and find the problem but they aren't the ones shooting or bombing anyone.

I'm not an expert nor claim to be an expert on human behavior but several issues seem to be affecting the situation

1) Detachment from society: The over use and anonymity of the internet, facebook and twitter type services has limited our scope of dealing with other people. People leaving nasty messages and tweets might not be so apt to do so if they had to face the person while delivering them.

Family dinners and car rides used to be family discussions or sing along games now have become 5 people with their heads buried in their phone.

2) Kids today being pumped full of medication rather than being shown and educated on how to deal with their problems and stress. Many of the medications list manic behavior and suicide among the possible side effects.

3) The idea that someone with a different opinion than yours is a sworn enemy to be beaten and destroyed rather than tolerated and collaborated with.

I think we as a society have to step up and admit our short comings and take responsibility for ourselves before this problem is going to go anywhere.

Only the extremist want to ban guns. Myself and many of my friends own guns and we lean left. That argument holds as strong as all conservatives are white supremacists. Excluding the asshole posting hate messages here.

Anyone want to bet the over/under on how many Klan members also support Trump. A white supremacist rally is also a Trump rally these days.

And this is why I try no longer participate in political discussions anymore.

All sense of rationality has vanished, it always devolves into "you are a racist", no, "you are a communist" in no time.

Meanwhile I will sit over here all by my libertarian self thinking libertarian thoughts. That of a government that stays out of bedrooms, gun safes etc. One that cares not about what others do provided they are not hurting anyone else.

Last time I mentioned that I won't vote for anyone who thinks that I (a small business owner in CA) don't pay my "fair share" in taxes already. By the end of the conversation I was deemed, uncaring, racist and hater of the poor and immigrants.

Meanwhile, I can't afford to provide my own healthcare thanks to the "help" of our government that took away my affordable catastrophic plan because it didn't cover my nonexistent vagina and other random nonsense.

Government is not the answer, more government is never going to be the answer no matter what "team" you root for.

The current president comes off like a bumbling moron. Clearly he isn't, nobody amasses a multi billion dollar empire if they are a moron. The last guy was a fantastic orator, he could read prepared speeches off a teleprompter in a way that few can. Guy before him stuck his finger in the wind to figure out what his opinion was and the guy before that just stuck his finger (and other things) in anybody that stood in front of him long enough.

This sh*t ain't gonna end well, that is all I can say.
