I’m not big into social media. I would get in trouble. However you guys strike up some good conversations. This latest attack is very sad. I’m tired of hearing it’s because of guns. I don’t own one. Criminals, physcos, terrorist and assholes could care less about laws. They will just buy the gun off the street. Or find another means to harm.
Why is this happening at such an alarming rate? People becoming desensitized, population out of control, too diverse of a population, too much white trash, poorly run and embarrassing government, the media? Too often these people have been on the radar and let loose. Do we need better mental treatment? More life sentences? Death sentences? Shut down of social media that has everyone f’d up? End violent game sales? Should some people just disappear? Whatever we are doing is not working. Are we really doing anything? The media mentions grants are available for churches and such to bring in security. A hired security guard would be the first shot. How would the guard know a guys about to pull a gun?

Go watch some clips of DJT at his rallies. When he says, about neo-nazis and white supremacists, that there are "good people on both sides", these are the results. He makes the pipe bomb stuff, and now this latest shooting, all about him. Somehow the winning candidate has to portray himself as the victim. I never thought that I'd say that George W. Bush had some very real human qualities that are sorely missing in Dorito Mussolini.

These are not the results of political rhetoric speech. These are the actions of mentally unstable people. Sane people don’t go out and kill someone just because they heard someone make an extreme example in a speech. And the 24 hr news networks trying to fill time amplifies each act which in turn drives other insane people to seek fame and notoriety.
Civil War reenactment is LARPing for people with no imagination.

The bomb sender's van had photos of Hillary Clinton with a target on her face. I'm sure you've heard the "Lock Her Up" chants at Trump's rallies. When the political rhetorical speech comes out of the mouth of the leader of the free world ("Body slam him". "Punch him in the face and I'll pay your legal fees") then it kind of gives these unstable folks the extra push they need - it's okay to hate "The Other" - to go out and commit these terrible acts.

And the irony of the president and the republicans in congress. They went completely crazy about Hillary and the server (see "Lock her Up") but radio silence when we find out that Trump uses an non-secure phone which the Chinese are listening in on.

And as soon as it all the fault of one side (enter your hated party here) that's when you are out of touch with reality.

We've got to realize that both sides are in the same business. Pandering to their power base, no longer public servants.

Neither side has the golden halo. Not by a long shot. We find fault with the opposition, and turn our heads to the obvious infractions of our heroes.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

My heart goes out to you David. Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is a serious condition. You don't want to leave that unchecked. Take the red pill and join those of us who live in the real world. You'll be glad you did. #Walkaway

Talk to me after the election.

BTW, Your side? The ones that live in the "Real World"? There are already a bunch of you claiming that the shooting in PA was a hoax and the "victims" are all actors. I don't want anything to do with that type of pill. Or you. And maybe next time try saying something more original than what you hear on Fox News. #GoAway

Our whole civilization reminds me of an undamped, multi-input servo system with the gains set too high. Each minor perturbation causes the system to oscillate and crash into a limit somewhere. Worse, the system can adjust it's own gains. At the moment the "information" gain adjusters (social media, news reporting, websites) are way out of balance. Almost hourly someone cries "wolf" and the system bounces off a limit.

Sadly, David, you seem to have fallen into the media trap. Believing the opinion, op ed garbage is actually news.

Did you happen to notice that the PA shooter also had a hatred for the president?

Sorry, he is just like so many others that went before him. A firm hatred for anyone that didn't fit into what fits into his small mind.

This was just another delusional nut, blaming others for his shortcomings, not able to take responsibility for how his life turned out, and nothing more.

I've had disdain for tribalism much of my life. In a nutshell, it's the separation of Us from Them. Sure, there is the benefit of cheering for your home team, along with 10K other people at the stadium, but it's extraordinarily divisive.

Hate tribalism all you want, but it's the only thing that got the human race through time. However, group think and picking on others for the sake of it or to achieve permanent power need to stop.

One thing I have found on Facebook is that the people who are most vocal about racism and treatment of Blacks are totally silent about the shooting. Haven't seen one comment by any of them.

That idea, turned on its head, makes much more sense.
I offer the thought that because he was never taught by at least one, often two generations before him, that there are things much greater than himself, he thinks his ideas are the correct sole bases for judging others and for judging what he will allow his emotions to lead him to do. He does not stop for a moment and consider "hey, what actions and attitudes fit in with this larger reference point?"

The people we call heroes usually believe they are not the end-all reference point for how to live and how to act.

And don't tell me these idiots suffer from low self-esteem: anybody who believes he has the right to take another person's life has pretty high f*cking self-esteem.

This was just another delusional nut, blaming others for his shortcomings, not able to take responsibility for how his life turned out, and nothing more.

Oddly, people who believe in things bigger than themselves seem more able to take responsibility for their own lives than guys like this one.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
