I've been wondering if anyone has expeience with the combination of a Samsung RPTV DLP and a doubler like the DVDO? This strikes me as having a lot of potential, and is a combo the big box guys cannot put together. Anybody done one?

I have done this a year ago with a Faroudja NRS processor. The client had a lot of old laser disc and wanted the best picture possible. The results were very good. As with all DLP TVs the addage of "garbage in garbage out" applies. The internal processor in the Samsung is OK(Faroudja DcDi), but there are better to be had. As for the DVDO, it is a small upgrade from the internal processor, but not a lot. I would try it in your showroom first then decide to show it. If you are looking for something that the big box stores can't do tht we can, look into the service menu tweaks for this TV and you will find that you can greatly improve the out of the box picture with just a few modifications. The big box guys will NEVER get into a service menu and the end result can be seen easily.

Yes, I have used the Faroudja and liked it. I was looking for an "entry level" combo for customer's who can't wrap their minds around the idea of paying as much for the processor as they do for the display. How current is your experience with the DVDO?
