I should already know this, but I keep running into the same remote codes on different manufacturers for the $99.00 TiVos. Does Hughes make all of them? For instance, the Samsung and the RCA have the same remote.

I am putting the two players in the same house and don't want to install IR routers for all of the rooms, so different code sets would be ideal.

I know that I could research this on my own, but I'm a little lazy. And I'm sure somebody already knows the answer. Thanks for your help.

Yes, all tivos that come with peanut remote use the same codeset. But there 9 remote addresses, so you can have 9 of them in the same room without any conflicts. But each tivo needs to be changed from the universal address "0". A tivo remote set to "0", will control any tivo no matter what address its set to, same goes for a tivo receiver set to "0", it will respond to any remote no matter what address it may be set to.

To switch addresses on the tivo see this post.

Thanks for your help. I should have mentioned that I need DirecTV-compatible machines. Hope this doesn't change anything.

it shouldn't... Dish Network's DVR is a big clunky POS made by Echostar.
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.
