I was going to use Origin Valet for this project but the in-wall echo dot kp wont be released in time and using the in-ceiling version is a deal killer on this one. I do however want to maintain local source takeover at three locations with TVs. Basically I want the line input to take over the bus input for that zone when a signal is sensed.
Prefer a 16 ch zone amp with local source sensing.

what have you got?

2 channel with local source is easy. Large number of channels might be problematic. You willing to rethink this?

Sounds like something an RDL "black box" of one type or another might be able to accomplish.

[Link: russound.com] is an example of a two channel amp that would do what he asks. Others are certainly available as well...

I have a Sonance ASAP-1 you can have for cheap.

Note that your local TV line output has to be variable for this to work well. Some televisions now just have optical output, probably no help there.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

It surprises me this isn't available on any large amps.
Yes Fred, I am willing to rethink it.

Can you wait for the new Sonos AMP?  It solves the video TV audio with HDMI ARC and volume con be controlled with IR or IP.

I was skeptical at first about ARC, but my experience has been very positive.

If you use RTI, the AD8x has this capability if I'm remembering correctly.

Russound makes a small amp called the tva21 that learns tv volume up, down and mute and can run of toslink. You'll need an external a/b switch.
