I’m curious, what are everyone’s AHI numbers after getting your CPAP? It’s a week now and mine run from 11 to 22. I’m wondering if they will have to turn up the pressure at my next appointment. It’s at 14cm now

What were your numbers pre-treatment? How is mask leak?

Those numbers are high and should definitely be looked at. However it's not unusual to have them higher at first as you struggle to adapt.

If you are lying awake a lot, that can also make AHI events much higher than they actually are (when sleeping). When you are awake you are not breathing rhythmically like when you sleep. The machine has no way to know you are laying awake and will read a lot of your breathing while awake as AHI events.

For fellow geeks the software to use is sleepyhead, it's free and was created by an apnea sufferer. It allows you to download all the data from your machines and examine it in detail. I don't use it anymore as there is no need, but I used it when I was starting up so I could see in detail what was happening. It supports resmed, I think it also supports Philips now but not sure.

I dont know what they were pre-treatment. Mask leak was bad last night. my wife went to the couch because of the noise of it. I may have to try the nose pillow again because im causing the full face to slip at night and the air slipping past teh seal sounds like a chain saw.

Your sleep test results should tell you the numbers. It should also tell what your oxygen level baseline was and how low your oxygen level dropped. Based on those numbers your apnea would also be described as mild, moderate or severe, I'm guessing it is severe. You should learn what those numbers are so you have a baseline to compare against.

Regardless of what they were, once you get into the routine of wearing the cpap, your ahi numbers with treatment should be reduced to less than 5 (and maybe much less). Keep in mind treatment is also progressive. Meaning that as you continue to wear it, you'll probably find yourself feeling better and better.

Unless you require a full face mask, try the dreamwear other people mentioned. You can buy it on amazon for about $50. Experimenting with and finding a mask that works for you is one of the most important parts of treatment.
