I don't see any indication that it will stream anything aside from Amazon music. I don't see where they are touting any 3rd party integration. I'm not sure how this is supposed to scare SONOS, us, or anyone else. It's Amazon creating another angle on gaining more customers and information.

The TV tuner/DVR looks decent though. I wonder if they will allow Android TVs to link for streaming. I wouldn't want to have to buy a FireTV. I'll stick with my TiVo if that's the case.

To be honest, the amps look cheap... so I'm guessing they'll cost next to nothing. As Amazon strive to take the bottom end of the market, Sonos should be looking to develop an all singing / all dancing soundbar to take the mid-to-higher end of the market.
This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers.

The bottom end of the market is roughly 80% of the population. I already see posts here where the echo is being used as a music source. Sonos should be scared. Echos cost less. "Alexa save me some money".

1. MANY of your customers are already Amazon customers.
Every time they log in, it's going to be seen.

2. It's cheaper
Doesn't matter, to most apples are apples, even when WE know they're pears.

3. It does do Pandora, Deezer, Iheart, Sirius, Spotify, TuneIn

4. $35 to add it to their existing stereo
For $75 they can add streaming service to an existing stereo, and control it wirelessly from another room. Oh, and it'll be on their doorstep tomorrow.

5. $300 to replace their existing stereo

6. Their going to offer to deliver it and install it

7. They have a $25 wall switch

8. They're not done yet

All it costs is your privacy.

You can link most music services within the alexa app. i can play spotify playlists on command.

they are also launching a matching SUB for the dot (which can now pair 2 for stereo) 2.1. and you can link multiples together for whole house music.

SONOS needs to add a toslink input and a sub output to their amps. the Heos has WAY more connectivity options. not everyone wants to pony up $600 for a new sub

Amazon is refining the delivery and experience - once that is done they can launch whatever they want at whatever quality they want.

Sell to the rich and live among the masses or sell to the masses and live among the rich?

it'll be on their doorstep TODAY in many places.

"Alexa play rock music" is going to swiftly replace looking down at a phone to choose something from the Sonos app.

Can also do this on Sonos via Alexa.

Sonos will also cater to those that don't want the privacy implications of Alex since it will interface with Siri. Or loose privacy with Google. Sonos didn't tie it's horse to just Alexa. For example, there also is a HUGE Apple Music following which excludes Alexa but not Sonos. Big quality difference. Yes, the masses may not care but we also don't cater to the masses.

After you pay extra for something that already comes with a $50 device that shows up in 2 days for free.

Are you sure about that? First post that i know of...wont be the last. [Link: remotecentral.com]

If you're worried about privacy, remember that Sonos routes all music services through their servers - they have done so for a while now.
The question is, does the Beam / Sonos One load all conversations through Alexa to the Sonos servers BEFORE they send it to Amazon's servers? Or are they saying that they're happy to ignore this important market data?

The privacy ship sailed a long time ago people.

Thank goodness we all listened to the advice on-line and re-mortgaged our houses to invest in Sonos...
