I have a client with older Sharp TVs that are having sync issues with DirecTV H25-500 receivers. It started 6 months ago with a update. The receivers work fine with a Newer Samsung Display. After doing a ton of trouble shooting it is that model receiver thats the issue. Because of the number of receivers(15) we can not change them out and he doesn't want to buy 5 new TVs.
I have decided to run them component video. I received the breakout cables for directv but CAN NOT get them to plug into the H25s. Directv assured me its the correct breakout cable. I plug them into a genie mini and it goes in fine.I know they only go in one way but has anyone else experienced this?
I know its been awhile since anyone has had to use these thing but I'm losing my mind and just want to get done with this.

If I remember right, you have to switch the resolution to 480i/p before you can get a signal from the component video output. Sunset law, you can not get HD from component outputs anymore.
Try that and see if it works then. It has been awhile since I have dealt with that issue on DirecTV boxes.

By the way, a TV that doesn't have HDMI inputs on it has got to be over 12+ years old at least (probably 13+ years with Sharp). He may not want to buy 5 new TVs but oh well. People in hell want ice water but eventually electronics have to be replaced. And a 12+ old TV that has been used that long (and it's a Sharp) has got to be looking beyond horrible.

But he's not saying he doesn't get video. He's saying he can't get the cable into the TV. This is true, though.

I remember a couple of Philips TVs from that era that had a component input that would do 4801 and a separate component input that would do 480p and 720p. Those might have to be replaced to work with the new TVs.

This is just too juicy to pass up:

What? The pictures roll because they don't sync up? The audio is not synced with the video?

Did your troubleshooting include accounting for the fact that DirecTV receivers might change their output resolution when you connect them to a device? I had such problems with an ATSC modulator. So... did you try all TVs with all DirecTV boxes with all possible resolutions?

I have decided to run them component video. I received the breakout cables for directv but CAN NOT get them to plug into the H25s. Directv assured me its the correct breakout cable.

As I said above, you're saying the damn connector won't go in the little hole. Does it go part way in? Not at all? Isn't it a variety of a mini (3.5mm) plug?

I plug them into a genie mini and it goes in fine.I know they only go in one way but has anyone else experienced this?

Ofcourse they only go in one way. One end of the cable is a version of a mini plug and the other end is several RCA jacks (not plugs).

I know its been awhile since anyone has had to use these thing but I'm losing my mind and just want to get done with this.

Yeay, I'm sure you do!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
