After the last several that we have been through, bug out from any coastal town. I delivered water to where the eye went through and nothing but the Morman church was left standing above ten feet.

Please be safe...

Praying for safety!!

I’m in the path, but at the other end of the state and on high ground. Hopefully by the time it gets to us it will be downgraded. However, our place on the river may be a problem. But I’ve got a cousin that lives in Moorhead City on the coast. They are dead in the path and are evac’ing. I talked to her last night and she was having a hard time fathoming losing everything they own.

I went thru that last year with Harvey. Its not fun, but with strong support from your family and friends they can get thru it.

Food for thought our property was completely under water. We were on 8 acres with 20 acres of county land to one side a 14 acre horse farm to the other and a golf course across the street.
there was over 10 feet of water over all of it.

We were picked up on a neighbors airboat. I'm gratefull that we got out safe and sound. I did have to make a trip back in for our dogs.
Our cars were totaled out, our house has been leveled and 99.9% of what we owned was under water and destroyed.
A year later we are all safe, dry and happy.
Its just stuff, but if you know its coming, you can at least rent a uhaul and get a good amount moved to higher ground.

Looks like TSS is in the direct path at both his houses. The one inland may get worse than the coast because they are calling for it to stall at that point.

Was in the cone, now out of cone to the South on Hilton Head Island, Now they are saying that possibly the high will push the hurricane south when it hits land right on top of us. First they called and evac, then cancelled it, now I am betting it will be put back on tomorrow.

Man this is crazy. We have a trip planned for Hilton Head. Were flying into Charlotte on Saturday, driving to Spartanburg/Tryon for the world equestrian games and then heading down to HH on Monday. We have no idea what todo or what to think. yesterday we were going to cancel and then they lifted the evac for HH.

Im sure TSS is running around like crazy trying to prepare. I texted him but no reply due to the preparations.

Hopefully this is all blown out of proportion.

Of course I don’t know any more than anyone else, but this looks like a near worst-case scenario. If you’re not familiar, read up on Hurricane Hazel. Florence has the potential to be one of the two worst hurricanes to directly hit NC in 100+ years.

Living in South Florida, we know not to mess with mother nature.. Please be smart and do what ever is told by the authorities. After the storm there is no water, food, or gas to run generators. Be prepared!!!

I had to turn of texting due to so much spam.

Drove to the beach yesterday morning, moved all the outside stuff inside and caught a not so good nights sleep.

Drove back to the inland house this morning, mowed the farm, went to Costco to get gas (what an adventure that was), and then prepping here for what may happen.

Crossing my fingers on the beach house. Almost done with all the work there and am not really wanting to do it all over again.

I watched some old videos of hurricane Hazel that hit the coast back in 54, as a cat 4. That's some scary shit...

Have a neighbor that's riding it out. Kinda foolish in my opinion. Hope he makes it through, as he really is a nice guy.

My son is in the middle of moving to Edgewater (that alone now sounds ominous), Maryland, on the coast nearly due east from DC, for an A/V job in DC. What a week to move!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Not to worry, I'm sure our Prez is stocking up on paper towel to toss out to the masses afterwards.

Amazing isn't it?

The president did something those prior president's didn't. He has already declared a state of emergency prior to the hurricane making landfall rather than waiting until after.

My kind of guy.

Last I saw people were looking for places to move horses to for the storm. The equestrian games may not happen.

It’s hard to predict the exact hurricane path in advance because the model’s input data is too granular and a really complete model cannot be run in real time. It’s pointless to run a model that requires more than a day to model today’s weather. Therefore, the actual storm will not follow the predicted path exactly. There will be winners and losers. One point that is fairly certain for a storm such as this is that there will be a LOT of rain. I’ve seen predictions of 25 inches for some areas. Even if the wind dies down, your equestrian show will probably be soggy. Will the horses be evacuated? If so, will they be able to return by Sunday?
