A customer asked me about this - after looking at it - they make some pretty incredible claims..4500 watts? 14hz? this is hard to do with separate components much less a 120v portable speaker.

has anyone every put one of these thru its paces and determined it is worth the $$$

"Worth the money" from a purely audiophile standpoint? No, it's not. You can get better sound for the same amount of money with separate components.

But, that's not the point of the product. It sounds great. It's easy to use. It is completely unique from an industrial design point of view. It feels incredibly well made. It's sexy and cool in the same way that Lutron Palladiom, Basalte, and very few other products in our business are.

I just went and read all the BS.

Look, when something is clearly defying the laws of physics... then it's a lie. When you find a company blatantly lie about 1 or more parts of it product, then some other parts that seem questionable, probably are lies as well.

25 pounds for speaker and amplification; anyone says this can do anywhere near 1/10th of the power listed is clearly delusional and has no understanding of the real world & electronics.
14Hz to 27kHz (-6dB) and 20-20kHz (+/- 2dB) on a light weight portable device. At what distance? And after they EQ'd the hell out of the speaker AND the measurement mic?! Professional experience with audio systems for 27+ years says BS!

Did you see what they claimed the THD is? They are 4 decimal places out. Even Harman I don't think has lab equipment that can measure that low. Total BS.
If you read thru, the descriptions are all full of made up BS.

Sorry, this reeks of scam BS!

[edit]: I just went thru the rest of their website. These people make BOSE look like amateurs. And they have a fancy looking store in some country.

It's a fun, but pricey lifestyle product.
Wait... am I allowed to call something not made by Bose a lifestyle product?

Oh well...

Either way, it sounds good. But it doesn't sound great.
However I do believe the industry needs something that looks wild and sounds decent as it draws people in and they will either buy or be switched into something that may sound better, look different (probably hidden) etc.
Would I own one? Nope.
Would I recommend one?
Nope.
Do they need to fix their networking - very much, yes.
This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers.

I'd love to hear the lacquers. Crazy retro!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Have a good client, who has always bought the top of the range HiFi from us and regularly done upgrades.

A couple days before Christmas he realises he hasn’t bought his two kids a present. So asks us if we can get two of these devaleit speakers.

We explain we don’t sell them but might be able to find two for him but obviously there will be an extra charge for handling the item etc. He said he did not care what the cost was and to get hold of two and let him know.

Being a good customer we would go the effort. Obviously so close to Christmas it was not easy to find one that we could pick up.

Found a dealer in London who had two in stock, but one was being demo’d.

I reserved one and said if the item didn’t sell I would take the other and I’ll come up and wait while they do the dem.

Thinking a demo of such a device would not take long I got there when they said the demo would take place. 4 bloody long hours later they emerge and the dealer hadn’t sold it. Couldn’t believe it. No demo should take that long. Luckily I had both of them, client would be happy, unfortunately parked up in London I had accidentally left my indicator lights on and drained my battery.

Suffice to say I had one very happy customer, I however shudder every time I see these monstrosities.
