Anything cool? Or just the same ole song and dance sprinkled with some major marketing wank?

Yeah, let's see some pics or something....I'm also dying to know what the keynote speaker talked about from the other post.

I thought the digital projection 8k demo was very impressive. Nowhere anywhere near something we could sell at $400k. But still really cool.

Brilliant system is cool, will have to play with it see if it has any practical use.

A couple of really smart, really hot ladies in various booths. Not booth babes... engineers and product development types, deeply involved in what we do (nice to see for a change)

a very helpful Sony guy who was honest and helpful about a really expensive tv problem we are having. Not the usual manufacturer bs I've become used to over the years.

Overall I felt the people working the floor were much less arrogant than they have been in the past, and allot more realistic about small but established installers (like us) selling their product.

We may be ne frustrated by the CEDIA organization, and the expo setup. But overall I was impressed by the manufacturers and people on the floor.
I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV.
My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

The coolest part is the local transportation setup. There are dozens, probably hundreds of unsupervised, battery powered scooters scattered about. There is a phone App. One picks up a scooter, that had been leaning against a wall or lamppost, sign-in, and scoot away. At your destination, lean the scooter against a lamppost and walk away. There was a large collection of scooters at the SONOS offsite venue.

I wonder how many of those scooters will be dismantled and packed in luggage Saturday morning. LOL

I wonder how many will report ER visits after being injured on one.

If anyone is by the Samsung booth, ask them what the heck is up with their executives. Now they have their third one being arrested.

Not at Cedia but I haven't seen anything new in a couple of years. Industry is kind of boring right now...

The main trend seems to be Video over Ip, of course. Access Networks had a great course yesterday on the network considerations.

I saw some stupid cool outdoor speakers that I’ve never heard before by Coastal Source (I think that’s the name). Tons of ribbon tweeters and a band pass sub in each speaker.

RTI was showing a considerable amount of new products - Video over IP, RTIQ cloud management, new flagship remote, and two new touch panels.

Laser projectors are almost everywhere. Virtually every theater demo booth had somebody's laser projector.

DTS and IMAX have joined forces for a THX like program, certifying product for a specific performance level. New Sony projectors are IMAX Enhanced as well as flagship Denon and Marantz avr’s.

I only saw about half of the show floor so I’m sure some other things will come up today.

Really? There is literally more changing every day than ever in residential technology.

K. Go....What major technology has come into the residential market over the past 2-3 years that is changing the industry?

Changing resolutions in the TV market doesn't get me excited. TV's are getting any skinner. Atmos and new decoding formats, meh. Media over IP has been around for the last 4+ years. New stuff in networking or wifi? Amps are now digital vs. analog? IP controlled outlets? Everyone has outdoor speakers systems now.

I'm not trying to be a dick but I don't think much has changed. That doesn't mean it's a bad thing. I does seem like technology is becoming more stable across the board which is a good thing. Less service calls. IDK maybe it's just me....

I would argue Video over ip that works is pretty new. We all but stopped selling Video Distribution in Residential. I’ve got 3 projects lined up with voip in the next 3 months.

Are these cedia scooters or San Diego scooters? Last year the homeless problem was really bad, how do they prevent them from getting stolen?

Got a picture of these things? lol

It's a San Diego thing.... we had "dockless" bike sharing before we had scooters... Ya, they were stolen allot.. break off the locking mechanism and it's yours... the scooters at least have battery power and gps tracking so they're pretty much useless if they're stolen.
