Maybe they are reading this thread..... Sonos Unleashes Sonance In-Wall and Outdoor Speakers; Launches Real Dealer Program[Link: cepro.com]So we all have to abandon Sonance now too? “Our goal isn’t to get these into a bunch of consumer hands,” said Sonos director of business development Ryan Taylor, during a press preview last month. “We’re not trying to drive direct sales of in-ceiling speakers.”What a load of BS... the goal is to get these into as many bunches of hands as possible. The dude is talking straight outa his ass. Sad to see Sonance whore out like this.

I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone. |

If you are doing a real dealer program and catering to dealers, you would never undercut them, or direct market your client’s by mining their email addresses.
Since they have marketing our clients as one of their primary sales focus, they have to do this dog and pony show, talking up their dealer focus, respect the rack, bla bla bla. They use our terms but redefine them.
It’s the pretend part that irks me the most. It’s like telling us that we are her only boyfriend, while the other boyfriend is on the cell phone and they’re planning their next date.

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions. |

I was talking to a guy who was installing Nest cameras, smoke sensors and thermostats last week- he charges $150 to install each piece, although I think the doorbell is a bit less- how is he not making money on it? The cameras look good, the video is easy to zoom whether live or recorded, they connect to the network easily and they can make $2K in a day. I don't see a problem with that. Sure. If that's your business model. Awesome. Personally the lack of ability to predict wifi coverage or dangling cables doesn't work for me. To make money on these jobs you have to sell it sight unseen. $150 for a quick install is cool as long as you don't have to do a site visit first or return something because the client didn't understand something completely. Again, if that's their market and they laid that all out, then great. Get money. I'm in this because I enjoy delivering elite systems, focusing on details, and happy life time customers. Not $150

One should be clear in one’s own mind about which business you want to operate. Take security/alarm or the cable company, for example: sure, there is an installation component, but they are really in the RMI business. Ultimately, Sonos will need to change their model because, as the market saturates, the buy once, free support forever, model fails.

[Link: blog.sonos.com]Launching globally in February 2019, the $599 Amp will be available to professional installers in the United States and Canada starting Dec. 1, 2018." That is what I thought too. But then why is it being sold on Sonos's own website and is available to the general public now and can have delivery as early as tomorrow.

This is where we disagree. Good on them? Control 4 would never actively pursue my clients. Quite the opposite actually. They tell me when opportunities arise. I support businesses that support my business, not Make it harder. Aren't they Control 4's client's, if things go bad between you and Control 4, Control 4 keeps the client regardless of how the lead was obtained?

I am not talking about being avail on the Sonos site for dealers.
I mean they are avail on the regular consumer site to purchase by consumers.

So they're available for joe blow... but not for the 'gold' integrators. But actually, they are, but they aren't.
Excellent. It has gone well.

This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers. #makesonosgreatagain |

We are not a C4 dealer, but I’ve talked with them a few times. If a dealer is terminated for some reason, including not meeting their quotas, C4 keeps all of the clients. This is much too risky for me.
