How the hell do you get rid of the Samsung home bar that pops up when you turn the tv on?

An "exit" command in your macro will usually get rid of it. In most of the newer TVs with current firmware there's an option in the setup somewhere for smart apps.
I think there are two options in the menu, one enables/disables the TV turning back on to the last app and the other option enables/disables SmartHub on startup.
If you disable Smarthub on startup that should fix the problem.
