As others have said, it is not an issue with JUST the Integra AVR. It almost always a combination of things. Just because you bypass the AVR and it works, does not mean it is actually the AVR causing the issue.
You have to look at the entire signal chain!. Every time you add devices into the signal chain it changes how signal levels, bit errors, and voltage are EVERYWHERE in the system.

If Brent's diagnosis is correct (high probability it is), then just changing the AVR may or may not fix the issue (depending on how other brands deal with the hot plug). Changing the Sony TV could just as easy fix or not fix the issue as well, if it is a Hot Plug issue.
Changing the TV would be the most expensive, the AVR the next most expensive, the Ethereal HDM-VCT the least expensive and guaranteed to work (if it is a Hot Plug issue).

I've had a few handshake issues with Onkyo and Integra pieces that were solved by turning deep color off.

with the unit on hold down the 4th input button (streambox, I believe) and then press then power button to toggle it on and off.

*edit* sorry forgot to mention I'm speaking of buttons on the unit itself and not the remote.
One thing I have learned in this industry. It is easier to pull a wire than it is to push one.

I have that same issue with zigen. I think it’s a zigen issue. They said they don’t have a choke( no clue what that means ) but I told them. I have two systems that are the exact same except I threw in a vanco Extender in off the truck since the 50ft hdmi cable was damaged. And the vanco has worked flawlessly and I got 3 call about snow for the zigen room.
