Nearly a dozen more codes have been added since that post. I found 4 new codes last week including a CEC one.

What does that have to do with his question?

mdavej, are you saying you don't want to supply any codes to Tony Golden because he hasn't posted any? Not everybody has that predilection. I have nothing against hundreds of people using codes we post. (That said, it's been YEARS since I posted any. I used to learn ALL the codes for every new product. These days I only learn one or two, and I don't find that worth posting.)

I agree. We don't share stuff here because each bit of information is bartered against other bits. We share when we want to. What, you might have shared if Tony had been obsequious and asked, "please, sir, where might I find these codes?"

All you had to do was not answer him.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I'm not really looking for those codes. I was just curious why someone would post "I found some new codes" on a help forum, and not at least provide a link to where those codes could be found by others. I don't want to say it was stupid, but it certainly wasn't logical, or helpful :-)

In regard to codes posted by ME, I'm not sure if I've ever posted any codes - I may have, but I've been helping people on the internet SO LONG, I honestly can't remember. However, there are many other ways to provide assistance to people, other than simply posting codes. If you're not aware of my history that's your problem, but I definitely don't have anything to prove...

First reply was "here are the latest codes" which linked to the last codes I had posted here myself. I replied that those are NOT the latest codes and mentioned that I had found more. Why should I share my codes that took many hours of effort to obtain when others never reciprocate and in fact make money on them? Rather than a simple thank you when I posted the first batch, the response was, "is that all you've got".

I'm not in the CI business, yet have shared thousands of codes to benefit everyone, even professionals. However, in the past year or so I'm thanked mostly with insults and condescension.  Since my code sharing has proven to be entirely a one way street on this board, my motivation is at an all time low. If those asking for the codes had ever shared any themselves or showed even an ounce of gratitude, then I'd be more inclined to share mine.

I'd like to that the last few posters for proving my point.

damnit. Tried to edit a spelling error and my whole reply got erased. Anyway, the jist was grow up. Either don't reply at all or just post the codes. The amount of people I've helped and they just moved on never to reply again is too many too count. Oh well. The info I provided is there for others to search.

The person who said "here are the latest codes" was telling the truth. Those were, as far as he knew, the latest codes that you had posted. When people say what they believe to be true, they are not lying or misrepresenting, even if what they say is not true.

Why should I share my codes that took many hours of effort to obtain

Because that's the kind of person you are: you share things, especially when you know it might help someone else.

when others never reciprocate and in fact make money on them?

I hear an echo of "grow up" right now. Are you saying that your motivation for posting was for people to thank you? Praise you? Be glad you're here in our midst, even if your attitude isn't the nicest?

Rather than a simple thank you when I posted the first batch, the response was, "is that all you've got".

Doesn't sound that offensive to me. It's at most a femtoagression.

Several people have said that it is best to be silent and thought a fool than to open one's mouth and prove it. The same can be said for being a nice, helpful, cooperative person. Or not.
