This is a whole new world that I'd never heard of!

What documentation are you using? What models are the clients?

By the way, just using the IR remote, we had a ridiculously squirrely thing happen with a wireless client and a Sony TV: two different clients worked fine on other TVs, but on this one TV the client power light came on 15 seconds after we hit power and the picture didn't come on totally until 45 seconds after hitting power.

So, just a weird suggestion: try the commands you've got, but with the clients conencted to TVs other than the ones you've had them connected to.

LOL, we have been controlling directv receivers, genies, and clients for 3 years! what type of control system do you guys use?

not on clients

Yes, on clients.  Just did a system last week that had C51s.  Works fine.  Haven't yet tried on C61s.

Wrong. We have dozens of clients via 232. 1) use the ioGear usb to serial cable w/ null adaptor. 2) red button the client. 3) 232 control all day.

Tuners too.

Edit* C4 guys, it blows my mind that there seems to be zero drivers for DTV and 232. True? or somebody made/has one?
how in the hell does ernie make money?

Don't need a null adapter if you make your own cables and pin it out correctly.  ;-)

So have we! That's no surprise!

But have you been using SHEF? Even though it very reliably locks up under some pretty common circumstances?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I think I'll just keep my boxes on 24/7 then. It's only consumes 2 more watts in the on mode anyways.

Will you have to remove any buttons from the remote in order to make it impossible for the customer, exploring his system, to lock up the receiver? Or will you just tell him there's a fluke here, and rebooting solves it?

Good morning,

Were you ever able to get this working? Which module are you using for your IP Control of your DirecTV HR54?

Thanks!
