Client of a new dist IP video system(Zektor Pixel) calls this morning. We have several TVs in this system that do not have ceiling speakers and rely on the TV for sound. There are two Sony blu-rays, sats, movie server, etc.

Select any source and you get correct sound thru HDMI to TV speakers.....right?

Select the blu-ray, he starts a movie that he was watching in the Theater.

No voice and dialog, only left and right of a 5.1 setup.

Went thru all of the settings in the TV and BR......nothing.....

Went to the settings in the disc itself, found two channel selected it, and wa la
I has sound.

VICTORY...........................RIGHT?

Had another disc in the other BR, played it, no voice, went to its menu and no two channel setting.....nothing.

First, it does not make sense because the TV should decode the 5.1 and play it correctly.

Second, no setting on a disc where the sound would play correct for someone with just a TV.

Any input is appreciated and encouraged!

I always get the weird problems!

Here’s a simple diagnose. Did you plug the BR directly into the tv to see if it had the same problem? If the audio sounded ok then, but not ok when it’s plugged into the normal set up. Then you can at least look into the “extra” side of the setup.

Squirrely problems require climbing all over the thing and trying things that make no sense to lesser mortals.

I assume, but you don't state, that in all cases you are running the source through the Zektor piece.

What model Zektor piece is that, exactly?

Is its firmware up to date? The firmware of the TV? Of the BD Player?

What audio adjustments does the Zektor piece have?

What sources do you have other than the two BD Players? Do they work correctly?

After your hoped-for victory with the frist disc, did you switch the discs from player to player to verify that the discs and the players always work the same? (Two is not "always" but it's more informative than one.)

There's no setting on a disc where the sound would play correctly with someone with just a TV. But did you actually connect one of the BDs to a TV with only an HDMI cable? And then you tried the other one?

Maybe someone from Zektor can jump in here and make some suggestions.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
