I've been using portal for a while now and it does have it's issues here and there but not only can you put proposals together pretty quickly, it just looks good. I have had multiple clients comment on how easy it is to go through.

Would the $89 be worth it to you to close and $10k deal? absolutely!
A $25k hell yes!

I used to use QuickBooks and it was very confusing for my clients. Just a bunch of line items and a large number at the very bottom.

What's the cheaper option that gives you everything portal does?

D-Tools? no..
D-Tools cloud? no

I know there are others out there but I think they are more expensive.

I do think it sucks the way that they handled it but I just consider it a business expense like having an internet connection.

And if and when they go down I'll probably go to D-Tools cloud.

I have dtools and it's paid for. It cost me less then a year of portals new payment structure. If you like or need cloud options, payment monthly is the only way you'll get it done. If you do not need a clud system, dtools is far cheaper in the long run.

Oh, and dtools proposals looked a lot nicer then Portal. It takes time to get setup though. Once you are setup, it goes very fast.

I am not with portal because of the rewards. If portal saves 1hr of my time per month on making a proposal, it’s already worth. keeping a website like portal running is not cheap, we know better. Keep up the good work and count on my support. Haters can go back to quickbooks ( which is not free either )

Is this a bad time to mention that some of us have a pool going if anyone wants in?

Fins, these are people. They even show up in this forum and do the best they can to engage with disgruntled users. They have taken risks. They have busted their asses. Some have certainly lost a whole lot of money ... and most of their hair. As far as I know, they are honest, hard-working people, passionate about the community they serve.

These are decent human beings you so gleefully demean in a forum of peers.

Ah well, I guess you're fortunate to have never had struggles of your own, never let anyone down, never disappointed yourself.

Well, they locked my account after 4 days of notice, 2 of which were business days, none of which I had time to eat let alone jump online to change CC info. So I really don't care about their issues on their end. That's terrible business and shows why they're in the position they are in. Sorry if it sound harsh, but I'd be sued if I shut down a clients system after 4 days.

Love how you think Portal is the only proposal software on the planet. How condescending of you to presume anyone not using it is using QuickBooks. I spent 1 day setting my Dtools back up and entering all of the SKUs we typically use. To maintain that will take about the same time it took me to double check EVERY price on portal since it was off so often. All I have to do is add a new sku here and there. Otherwise the process is as fast or faster to create a proposal. I did not use portals ordering system after several issues with botched orders combined with the rewards thing. There was no reason to use it any longer. Dtools proposals look better and provide more options. About the only thing I lose is notification of when they open the proposal if emailed. And dtools is paid for, so my monthly spenditure on software is $0

Really I don't think Portal is the only proposal software in the world, we have gone through several others before adopting Portal.
Good for you that your dtools is paid for and setup the way you like and working for you. My only point is, if Portal is not for you ( I don't mean you - goldenzrule .. i mean all the people condemning Portal ) just don't use it anymore.
For my needs, it's a great platform and they deserve my appreciation. Despite the bugs that needs to be worked on, I am a strong believer that the more people appreciating their work and supporting them, the better they will be. And as for the Quickbooks that i mentioned, i assumed folks like you that had been paying for dtools or other paid estimating software wouldn't be using portal anyhow... but sorry if sounded condescending to you. It was certainly not my intention at all. I am here to contribute and learn.

The path that took me to using portal was due to a computer hardware failure that also happened to take out my backup NAS drive. I wasn't using cloud backups at that time. So I started using portal as I had to resetup dtools. It didn't take all that long but I just never bothered as portal was free at the time and handled mainly what I needed. As the software changed and bugs were introduced, it became an issue. The final straw for me was portal shutting my account off in the manner they did. It's not even worth a phone call to them. I'm done with them and moved on.

So logged in to check my rewards that were both pending and what I have on my current card, as I did not use all of the money on the card.  Go to log in to the card services and it shows no card associated with the account.  Portal site shows still pending from August of LAST YEAR.  That's right, I can still access my account portal even though you "shut it off" after a couple days of you informing me of my cc issues on the account. I used to say I was rooting for you guys, but you are shady as F@%^.  I moved on, last thing I wanted to add to this thread.  Don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out of this industry!!!
