Well, THAT's just counter-intuitive. The plug enters a recessed jack, yet it's female. What is this World coming to?

It can use any bathroom it wants.

Do they have one with a question mark?

BNC connectors have the same difficulty but nobody seems to care. The key here is not caring.

The thing on the end of the wire is the plug. The thing mounted to the chassis is the socket. Confusion over.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

New install of all new equipment and wiring including 18gb HDMI cables. I have no problems with the Dish Hopper or the Sony 4k BD Player they display thru the Marantz receiver to the LG display, no issues. The two HikVision NVR’s just aren’t happy. I get the loading splash screen, but they won’t go to the camera feeds. Both units act the same way.

Take note of this oddity: if I install an additional tv on the second HDMI output of the Marantz, turn “everything “ off and back on all goes smoothly and the cameras will display on BOTH display devices?! I’m able to switch back and forth to any of the sources and back to the cameras without issue on either tv. As soon as the “extra” tv is removed... the cameras stop working!

I came across the Ethereal HDM-EDIDB edid blocker for use with camera NVR / DVR’s in “multi display jobs”. Hoping Brent will chime in with confirmation of this being my best hope. If it weren’t for the discription... “security NVR’s work well with one display, but are a headache with multiple displays”, I would say it’s the obvious choice; but the wording gives me pause as I only have the one display.

I’m not the security camera installer! I did everything else, but he is throwing his hands up on what the problem or the fix is. Any help or insight is appreciated, thanks in advance.

LG 86SJ9570
Marantz SR 7012
Sony UBP X1000es
HikVision DS 7216
Test tv Atlona 8”

What if you run a second HDMI cable between the AVR and TV? So instead of a second TV just have it connected to a second HDMI input.

Obviously this isn't a solution...just curious if this would work.

I know you you have all been waiting with baited breath...

Today’s attempts were all a fail!

Made sure camera DVR’s were set to 1080p resolution... it was and no change.

Connected Atlona test monitor to the same HDMI cable as the LG 4K monitor... it reads the HikVision splash screen at 1024 x 768 and then it switches to the camera feeds and it is in fact 1080p. So no real change, other than the max resolution of the Atlona is 1080p so that is the best that the DVR can hope for and it settles on that and produces the picture. Not true of the LG. Brent says that the EDID of the DVR is still trying to negotiate for a better resolution and the two are not happy.

I changed the Marantz resolution to fixed @ 1080p... no change, no love. This wouldn’t be a solution anyway as I want the 4k from the Sony BD

Switched the HDMI output of one of the DVR’s with the Dishnetwork cabling... no change, no love.

Called the awesome Brent... discussed the sexual orientation of said DVR’s and he assures me the HDM-DIDB blocking device will solve all of my problems, end world hunger and keep the hurricanes away from Florida this season! Ok most of that is a stretch!

I left the Atlona buried in the rack connected on HDMI2 output of the Marantz. And everything works as it “should” even Zone2 output to the bedroom shows the camera DVR’s! Go figure

Said EDID Blocker product should be in hand tomorrow
