Approx 2.5 weeks ago, this man named Sheikh Shafiq Huda gave a speech at a public park approx 150 ft form the Ontario Legislature building calling for the eradication of all Jews, the destruction of Israel, the destruction of the United States Empire, and the ongoing destruction of Great Britain. He speaks of them leaving in body bags. Not only has Prime Minister Justin Trudeau not condoned this call for genocide, but he actually defends them and on top of that, he funds them with my tax payer money.

The first link is to the speech so you can hear this man's words for yourself.

t=300s

This link is to an article in the Toronto Sun and our mainstream media not only didn't say anything but they attacked the reporter and did everything they could do to discredit her and said nothing about the speech. She was branded a racist and Islamaphob.

[Link: torontosun.com]

You're worried about what's coming over your Southern border. You should be completely terrified as to what's coming over your Northern one.

The Toronto Sun was the only major news outlet to say anything of this speech. Our National broadcaster, the CBC which is funded by our government has said nothing. If you go to their website and search this Shiekhs name, the only response you get is "no results found"

Maybe we're not your good neighbors to the North anymore.........

OTOH, more people may now know about this guy from your post than actually heard what he said. Maybe they'd prefer not to make him a celebrity? Maybe they have everything he (and anyone he knows) owns bugged and figure he'll be more likely to do something stupid if he feels like he's being ignored, so that they can arrest him?

You have to keep in mind that a lot of these folks, although they may actually like to see come to pass what they talk about, know it's not going to actually happen. But, if their talk can create division and paranoia and hatred in our society, it will ultimately play to their benefit, not ours, because then we will act in a way that they can then point to as proof of their claims, and gain more adherents.

That's a very old tactic, and mostly it works because some guy who is actually meaningless can suddenly have a huge effect because people who are prone to be just like him (except flipped in the other direction) will over-react and start spewing hatred and xenophobia, and the media will often often do the same. It's just playing into his game.

You've bought into the polarization that is destroying our country. Everyone else but my kind is bad. Everyone who is my kind is being discriminated against. Everyone else but my kind is getting special treatment. You are exactly like the people you hate, because that's always how it is. People on the far ends are just alike, and they justify their existence based on people just like them on the other far end.

The vast majority of us aren't on either far end, but we pay the price for all of the division and mistrust and violence that stems from this crazy polarization of our society.

And if you question their incredibly broad brush statements, they'll usually throw up a bunch of links, which are all basically from either organizations who benefit from feeding their paranoia and xenophobia, to keep their number ups, or wing nuts who live even further off the ranch than them (where that's possible.) It's so easy for political and 'news' organizations to lead these people (and a disturbing number who aren't way out there otherwise) around by the nose these days that it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

Sadly there's almost no way to stop it from growing. It's impossible to legislate perspective and balance. And you don't have to actually lie to mislead. You just report what serves your own view. And of course many actually believe that they are patriots who are saving us, when it fact it's the opposite.

I know this is a serious thing but Islamaphob is brilliant. That's the word we should use from now on.

You're worried about what's coming over your Southern border. You should be completely terrified as to what's coming over your Northern one.

The law of unintended consequences. Canadians are nice to everybody.

I just verified that.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

If you approach the media/political space as a control system, it is unstable -- it's oscillating.

These fringe people desperately want to be heard, as a free society we want to allow them to speak, the media needs eyeballs and these fringe elements collect eyeballs. These eyeballs are "sticky" and form clumps. As the clumps grow, the fringes are happier and the media is happier. Our almost cost free, instant communication capability adds "gain" to the system. As these growing clumps collect more and more energy with each cycle, the machine eventually breaks apart.

The internet has given the vocal minority (of both sides) a reach that they've never had before. But their numbers are pretty small, and I think the larger population in the middle knows that by the time someone goes online or on TV and spouts something dumb (again, from either side), they're probably on the extreme end of the spectrum, and not representing the feelings of the larger majority.

I got off Facebook a couple years ago, and never watched the 24/7 news channels. You know what? When you go out and go to the bank, go out to eat, go to the beach or go buy coffee...everyone seems to be pretty cool with each other for the most part.

The rage is online and on TV.

I think life is pretty good here in America, for the most part.

It is, unless you look at what's happening in & around government- that's a train wreck and has been for quite a while. We absolutely need to keep a close watch but not 24 hours every day- that makes people crazy, hateful of others who don't agree and it incites all kinds of problems.

Social media invites people to comment on what's important to them, but some lose all control and go off the rails on a regular basis. I know someone like that. He has been a noisemaker, uses one news source that's very biased and almost never shows links or other references to back up his comments. His comments include "Well, there's your proof!", when it's just a comment that amounts to heresay. He berates people and then comments about all of the people who have done the same. He also has written that if he wasn't there to post the information, people wouldn't know what to think and then, he finished with "Including you, and named me specifically. I went off on him, but removed the post because I had let myself do what I hate about Facebook- write something as a REaction to what was read, without taking the time to calm down. People don't seem to know or care that Facebook posts can be edited or removed and that's causing a lot of the animosity.

This same guy, who's a very talented drummer, has played for people who are locally, regionally, nationally and internationally known and at one point, was playing in the band of two local acts who have played around the world on their own. He blew the gigs with both by saying or doing something he thought was funny, but was totally unacceptable to the rest. Last year, he stepped into a hole next to the sidewalk outside of his house, near the street and tore up his ankle,. knee and wrist on one side. Was this his fault? Hell no! He blamed the city for not filling the hole, which is beyond the sidewalk that's parallel to the street. Around the same time, he divorced his wife and now has the kids, which has eroded his mood even more.

If things were as bad as the news portrays, I would be ducking bullets every day, but that doesn't happen. I see and interact with people who are different from me and you know what I see? People who are just going about their day, just like me. People are friendly and even if we have never seen each other before, greetings are exchanged.

We need to change the media and put a muzzle on some politicians, like Maxine Waters.

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Well, Congress is 80% old, male, and white. The President is old, male, and white. Seems that if you have a problem with the political machine you can probably blame the old white men. I'm a middle-aged white man and I will never understand this fake victim mentality that's appeared so recently. White men have held a monopoly on power in Western society for what, 1700 years? And still do. But the tide is slowly shifting towards balance--an apparently terrifying realization for old white men.

I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV.
My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

The good news is, soon the Christians, Muslims, and Jews will be forced to realign against the Atheists and Agnostics.

Abrahamic religions seem to be in a 2000 year match for title of worst thing to ever happen to man kind.
