Long story short I was forced to use the peerless peer air system for a client.

Simple Setup in secondary room so the clients didn’t want to invest to much. Everything worked fine and dandy except for the Fios box. I couldn’t get any sound whatsoever out of it.

Turns out it was a combination of things. The Fios box had to be set to PCM, the only way todo this was through the installer secret menu as the user menu only goes between “surround” and “stereo” on the client boxes you hold D for 10 seconds to get into the installer menu, then go to box settings, then HDMI settings then select the audio format.

The second issue seems to be with 4K cables. I had a few ethereal 4K MHYs on the truck and none of them worked. Asked the client if they had any laying around and she found some old ones that worked.

PCM issue I understand because clearly it’s a formatting thing with peerless, frustrating but now I know how to fix this with Fios....what I don’t get is why they didn’t work with nice 4K cables?

Anyway, just wanted to save someone else in the future from 2.5 hours of troubleshooting!

It is because of the thinner copper of the MHY cable (not the 4K part).
HDMI is Bass Awkards, the display powers the output of the previous device.
The cable box is pulling (demanding really) more current than the MHY cables are passing down the TMDS lines. This is a newer problem and has caused me more than a little aggravation, it also took about a day for me to figure out what the failure was
The correct solution is the less expensive (but larger diameter) MHX cables.
We are seeing the same issue with the DirecTV receivers.

MHX all the way....don't care about the more flexible thinner stuff at all....Brent got me onto firehose copper passive several years ago and we have very few problems in the field.
