I want to add wheels to a wooden box. It will be rolled around outside so i need biggish tires that one seize up due to debris like an indoor caster.

This is very similar to what i want to do....

My project isn't mobile cornhole. I will have electronic components inside using up every square inch so i want to do it without an axle. I need something like training wheels for a bike. I want something that bolts onto the box and then provides me with a half axle to mount and secure the wheel to.

I don't know what to search for. Hopefully someone here knows what im looking for or has another idea.

Thanks

Do a search for "all terrain casters" or "industrial casters".  They would mount on the bottoms (not the sides) but could be attached without an axle going through the box.

Training wheels were my backup plan but I wanted something that didn't stick out as much.

"All terrain casters" search term was what I needed. Thanks guys.

This got difficult for you, then for us, when you envisioned it as having wheels on the sides of the box. If you had imagined one of those flat furniture dollies, but with a bigger area and an actual box on top, you would have had it.

For cheap, you might consider buying a Harbor Freight furniture dolly and stealing the wheels.

Also, these wheels ALL have axles, so you're lucky someone saw that this is the kind of thing that would work.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

This won't work. The wheels need to be large and capable of rolling through grass. The furniture dolly wheels are too small/hard and the swivel feature means that debris will get caught in the wheel and they will fail.

I take it you mean "stick out" to the side, not downward.

Most of the all terrain casters resulting from a google search are the swivel type, and

How about...

A good 10" diameter rubber wheel oughta do! While it has an axle (as will any wheel with a hole all the way through it), it doesn't swivel, and because the wheel is ten inches in diameter, it's going to roll right over those small bumps and animals.

You could use a clamping arrangement and an external axle. Or, Ernie's wheels above, mounted on an external "L" cross section plate attached to the bottom (top) edge of your slab.

Or, strap the whole thing to a hand truck.

Haha I read the Amazon 1 star reviews and they STINK! Hope you don't have to do a search for caster deodorant.

I read that lol. They will be outside so it shouldn't be an issue. I bought a rubber mat for the back of my car. It was meant to protect the seat backs while folded flat. Worked perfectly but had an obnoxious smell that seemed to get worse over time. One day I couldn't handle it anymore and tossed it out. Two days later I ripped a hole in the back of both seats because they weren't protected.

That's pretty funny:

I only notice smell when i got them in the box, but after installing them, I don't smell anything.

That is, they have killed the guy's sense of smell. He doesn't smell anything!

I will keep it simple and you take it from here. From your picture I would run a proper length bolt/threaded rod from inside out with proper bushings for spacing off side. No reason it has to go through the box. One sticking out each side is all

Go to the Lowe's or HomeDepot in the lawnmower section and pick up some all terrain tires.

They even have plastic chrome rims you can buy so you can "pimp your cart"...I hear you like to customize everything you touch...
