I get this e-mail pretty regularly. Although the video component normally changes, the audio never changes. They LOVE the 650.

"Sales

I would like to know if you can get any of this models below for me:

TV SAMSUNG :
QN75Q7FNAFXZA
QN75Q8FNBFXZA
QN75Q9FNAFXZA.

Sony
XBR-75Z9D

LG
OLED65W7P.

HOME THEATRE SYSTEMS
Bose Lifesyle 650 ( BLACK )

If so kindly provide me with the pricing and availability and also let me know the major credit cards you accept for payment."

Does this actually ever work with audio companies?

one of our guys sold 8 Garmin GPS systems for boats to one of these scams.  American Express charged us back for it and we lost about 8 grand on the deal.

I get those stupid emails all the time too. Just got one for the Bose yesterday.

Even if it wasn't a scam, anybody who sends an email like that is sending it to 900 companies trying to get the cheapest price.

I ignore them.

We often wonder why people try to do these scams. The Freakonomics guys pointed out something about this outrageous approach.

You and I look at this and instantly laugh, or maybe just shake our heads. But there's one guy out of ten thousand out there who will take this seriously. THAT is the guy they're looking to hook.

Anyone who responds to these crap emails qualifies himself as ready to be scammed and dumb enough to fall for something obviously fake. The only effort the scammers had to put out was copying thousands of email addresses and hitting SEND. Of course, there are probably a few people who will engage them for the fun of trolling them, but who has the time for that?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The problem is the almost insignificant marginal cost of email. On one level we are stupid for not engaging in this practice. And this logic snares a lot of down and out types to invest in spamming software, buying a list, and/or renting a botnet. “A few clicks and you’ll be rich” is the pitch. I receive my share of emails with the “[insert text here]” still in the message. Evidently, the get rich quick spammer clicked “send” too soon.

At one point I would go after the spammers. I severely irritated one group who put me on a punish list. I received thousands of emails over the next several days.

My volume of spam is decreasing. I have a filter that blocks most spam and returns a bad code. Anyone with quality control will review these flags and remove me from their list. Even if the sender is a Trojan’d member of a botnet, Granny will ask someone about the weird message in her inbox.

You're assuming that nobody responded to that email. People will. Remember our lesson from A/V systems: when you make something foolproof, Nature invents a better fool.
