Onkyo receiver not passing 4k

DirecTV Genie
Onkyo TX-SR373
Samsung Curved 4K TV (MU6500 I think)

Directv direct to the tv's outboard input then the proprietary cable from that box to the tv works. (channel 104 Olympics in 4k)

When I run it through the Onkyo, I lose picture (4k channel only) but still get audio.

I tried changing HDMI settings in the receiver, but no change.

Any thoughts on why 4K from Directv does not pass through the Onkyo receiver?

Are you using the main Genie? or one of the minis?

Main Genie does not do 4K. Must use a 4K Client for 4K content

It does 4K, just not when passing through the Onkyo. I assumed it was the main Genie but it must be a client.

C61 Client Passes 4K. Genies do not. Check what HDMI cables you are using. Had issues with thin cables as DTV had changed settings which caused issues. Contact Brent at Ethereal for help

I suppose I should have gotten more info, like an exact model number, but it does display the 4K channel just not when I run the HDMI through the receiver.
I'm using B4 series HDMI cables from snap.

The only other 4K source is a hard drive connected to the TVS USB with 4K content preloaded on it from Samsung. I believe it came with the TV. That works with no issues.

I dont normally deal with Onkyo, so not sure if im missing something there. The setup menu sucks and i couldnt find anything for software updates.

If it is displaying 4K at all, then the box is NOT the Genie (HR54). You are using a client box (C61K) - also known as a mini-genie. [Just because DirecTV loves to create even more confusion with boxes].

The main box (Genie or HR54) does NOT output 4K. It can't. It does not have the ability. That is why to do 4K, you have to use a client box (C61K). Which is obviously what you are using, if you get 4K hooked directly to the TV.

Unless.... there is something weird going on and you are using the larger main box. And for some reason the TV is saying something on the screen, that makes you think you are getting 4K - when you are not.

By the way; the Binary B6 HDMI cables are great. The B4 not so much. Considering the cheap price and very little cost difference, why are you not using B6, instead of the B4.
You also realize the Binary B4 is rated for only 10.2Gbps (That's 4K non HDR).
The B6 is rated for 18Gbps (That's 4K HDR).

AND BTW our friends at Metra/Ethereal had a whole range of cost effective choices. The e-commerce site gives you full visibility into each warehouses stock.

And, by the way, you guys already know this, but Ethereal tech support answers questions even when it's not their problem. Take a bow, old man.
