Hello, Im looking for some equipment advice. This may be pretty basic for most. Still learning here.

I have basically a large room that will be a "residential sports bar/man cave". We have 12 speakers throughout on a 6 zone 12 channel amplifier. Initially the system was only going to be Audio only with Sonos. Things changed and now there will be 4 displays, 1 DTV Box and a Blu-ray player. Biggest issue is am looking for the most efficient way to use the 1 amp but to switch sound between the sources(Sonos, DTV, Blu-ray). Will more than likely use JAP and RTI for control. Any advice would be much appreciated.

No need for surround sound. Just want to play the sound over the 6 zones of speakers.

Yep do yourself a favor and allow the person you’re hiring to program the RTI handle the overall design and provide any additional equipment needed.

I agree with the others. This is a bit large of a project to be learning so much on. You need input, i.e. labor and design, from others. This is to assist the design, having a person with more experience able to see what to do and what to avoid, and to keep you out of trouble during the installation.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

An AVR with preouts for L and R would be the most efficient IMHO. You could also use a stereo preamplifier, and use the proper JAP pieces to get analog audio from the source devices.

In order to make suggestions, there would need to be more info on how much control you need of the various speakers.

In other words, will all the speakers play the same audio source material all the time? Or would there be different audio sources playing through different speakers at the same time?

Do any of the speakers need to be controllable volume wise independent of the other pairs or will all the speakers raise/lower at the same volume level together?

Same source all of the time.

All will raise/lower at same time.

Personally I would use a Sony ES receiver w/ preouts for the 12ch amp. It will handle all the video sources via HDMI (for one TV, or all of them if they are all showing the same image)

You can do control however you want, RTI was mentioned.

Fringe benefit is that Sony ES has automatic Sonos integration when the zone is turned on in the Sonos app
The less I say, the smarter I will appear
