Yeah first and last time I tried that with a DVR it was in a high-rise and was an absolute nightmare. I even did the power wires nice and in the wall. There were plenty of cat5s ran everywhere so I made a great network with Unifi APs that worked perfectly for normal stuff but the cameras just would not keep a consistent connection. My suspicion is radio pollution but I still wouldn’t ever do this for anybody ever again outside of a single nanny cam or self contained unit.
Ended up replacing all with wired IP and it’s been perfect. Never again, and to think I knew better than to try it. FWIW these were Speco WiFi cams which were okay once I got them home and out of that environment. Actually a few of them even failed and wouldn’t come back period but none ever had a problem out of the box at my house.
