I have a benQ8700 projector for HDTV that is more than 10' away from my stack. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make a 30' run for an IR extender. I have not purchased the MX 800 yet so I'm not married to if if another remote has a better solution.

I've done a similar application where I simply chopped off the end of the emitter and spliced it onto Cat5. I think that the run was around 50 feet and it actually worked just fine.

I've gone farther than 50' in the past with no problems. It may have been closer to 100' + !!!

A long, long time ago, "whole house audio" didn't include keypads! Just IR recievers and emitters. Of course, thats basically what todays IR based systems still are. Except now, your programmable remote is mounted to the wall!
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

I have never paid any attention to if there was a recommended max. length. I've been running them wherever I wanted for years.

I'll use Russound or Xantech. Just depends on which one the wholesaler has in stock at any given moment.

Just run the CAT 5 like AHEM said . splice on.

Just to be safe, we use 22/4 Shielded Eye wire instead of Cat5, and have run long distances for many years

If the signal is not getting there on cat-5 start adding more conductors. Speaker wire works too! The things to come up with on the fly.
