Have a bid that the client is slightly favoring Samsung over Sony. He got a bid from a local retail shop, maybe they were pushing the Sammys? The last two years I've been loving the Sonys (mid & upper models).
The models are QN-65Q7F OLED vs XBR-65900F LED. I really haven't even researched Samsung in a few years. I know it's OLED vs LED, but hey maybe the Sammy is a "cheap" OLED. Sony's 65" OLED is $3200.00 (Sammy is $2500). Shoot the Z9 LED is $3500.00.
Any input on if you've seen/ used the new Sony (900F or higher) OR new Sammy's

The Samsung actually isn't OLED. It's "Q" (good marketing trick)LED. Great colors and vibrancy. They do lose contrast when viewed from the sides.

IMO...the Sony LED looks natural and the colors are more true where the Samsung "pops" more and is more vibrant. Motion processing is pretty close on both. UPDATE: I forgot to mention the Sony OLED in this comparison. It's the best TV I've seen and blows away anything out there.

You're right, my fault. I saw the model quickly and "thought" I saw OLED. Maybe that marketing trick.......

I have the Q7 and A1E on display. The A1E crushes the Q7. Annoyingly we put the Samsung in to "Get" the people who were die hard Samsung fans. It has been in for about 5 4 months and we have yet to sell a single one. In the meantime, people see the A1E, see the difference and are will to pay more for a better TV.

Compared to the W7 LG, and Q7, the A1E handles gradients and movement better than their competitors. Off axis viewing on the W7 and A1E also crush the Q7.

Just got a couple of the Sony OLED's going on a job and I've been very happy with them. We watched an ultra HD surfing documentary that was on the K-Scape and it was really quite amazing. I haven't seen the Samsung equivalent model, but I can tell you have another customer who called me from Best Buy and said, "I found the TV I want! Can you get me a Sony A1E?!" Never had that happen before.

I'm not super crazy about the android OS, and yesterday we were having a helluva time getting one of the A1E's to stay on the network. It wasn't stable at all...I'm not sold on IP control for *everything*, especially if you just want ON/OFF and input selection.

Put one of the 77" Sony OLEDs in my client's office. Oh man what a picture! Blows the Sammy away completely.

Try and find a side by side comparison for your client, the Sony KILLS it.

With any of the Samsung LED's, especially the thinner ones, the back light is not uniform. Look at solid color backgrounds, especially near the screen edges -- there are obvious (to me) "lumps" of varying intensity. This drives me crazy. This characteristic is undefined for OLED's.

I avoid pointing this out to customers because, once this genie is out of the bottle, there is no turning back. Why wouldn't I automatically point this out? Because some viewers will never notice the "lumps" and really prefer the Samsung "pop". I'd hate to spoil the set for them.

So you stayed away from plasma as well? Or rear projection CRT back in the day?

The new WOLED Panel from LG are outstanding. They have a pixel refresh built into the software of the TV. After a certain time period, you will be prompted to refresh the the pixels. This takes about an hour during an off cycle. We have had the A1E on display since it came out, for 9 hours a day x about 300 days. We just put it next to the A8F for comparison. Honestly, not much difference at all. Plus not sure if the difference is an upgraded video circuit/processor, or what, but I believe it is still the same panel.

Either way 300 days at 9 hours a day running a looped video with no image retention. We have had issues with the loop video sticking and locking up maybe 3-4 times in the past year. it then leaves the play and status info on the screen. This has a temporary burn in, but it heals itself within minutes to hours.

We’ve been switching to Sony over the last year. Other than the outboard power supplies I like everything about Sony better. At the same time, the differences aren’t worth turning a customer off if they like Samsung. For example, I had a customer call this week wanting to upgrade his tv to a 70”- 75”. I brought up Sony being our favorite now, he said “I don’t like Sony. I’ve had bad luck with Sony”. No problem, let me check Samsung prices.

The OLEDs use a regular D Cord for power. No External power supply.

Did you know plasma had burn in when it was released?

Glad to know there is a solution.
