Hi,

has anyone controlled a 2018 QE75Q9FN using the Ex-Link port (or a similar model)?

Its been a while since we did a Samsung screen, and back then we had to use TTL level converters to get them to work with a standard Crestron serial port, and IIRC not all of the commands were available over RS232.

Has this moved on - is IP control available, is the serial protocol available, does Exlink work with a direct serial connection?

I have looked in the Crestron application market and the last Ex-Link module I can see is for the UN-ES9000 and I cant get any info from the distributor who says the Protocol doc they were initially supplied was of no use!

TIA

Nick
What do you mean you wanted it on the other wall - couldn't you have mentioned this when we prewired?

The 2018 models are not yet confirmed working with EX-Link. Also, the IP control is not confirmed working either. By that I mean, I have seen multiple reports that both of those do not work and no reports they do work. Proceed with caution. Quite possibly they're not yet enabled in the actual firmware. Note that Samsung has not even updated their own app, so IP control seems likely not ready yet. EX-Link is something that really never changes, so it is quite surprising to see reports of that not working yet. Both work great on 2017 models, so that may be a better option if you can find some now.

Thanks for the info, I guess this backs up what the distributor was trying to tell me. Unfortunately the 2018 model is now installed.

I am sure the above sh1t is why I stopped using Samsung in the first place.....client wouldn't be swayed from his desire for the latest QLED unit though (and I tried REAL hard to get him to have the latest Sony).

Guess I will have to stick an emitter on it for now....classy! Anyway that is now next weeks problem, roll on the weekend...!

What's the model? Lots of 2017 models still in the channel.
