Can a projector that is about 26 feet away from a 110 inch screen be 5 1/2 feet off center and still get reasonable geometry? Client wants projector in the kitchen aiming towards the family room wall. The range hood is in the center. On top of the cabinet could work, but would be off-center.

Second issue, cathedral ceilings, no attic, slab, how do you get sound from the back of the room to the front wirelessly? I am thinking that getting sound to the front would be a better risk then HDMI back to the projector.

never done it wirelessly. I would examine the possibility of ever so carefully pulling base molding and trimming the bottom of the sheetrock where necessary to run speaker wire(s) behind the baseboard.
One thing I have learned in this industry. It is easier to pull a wire than it is to push one.

I can’t imagine that scenario coming out well. That is a long way away and that is a crazy amount of offset.

Maybe a super short throw like the Sony VPL-VZ1000ES would solve both of those issues?

I'd take a step back and ask yourself is this the best application for a projector. If it's near a kitchen, I'd say there's probably going to be a lot of natural light to deal with as well. With a 26' throw, you're going to need a lot of light output.

Hang a TV on the wall and save yourself the headache.

Throw distance does not affect light. Screen size does.

The bigger question is what projector is he going to use with a 3.25 throw ratio lens and 250% lens shift.

You are right, it is a bad set no matter how I shake it. There is too much ambient light as well. I just told the client I would get a couple questions answered before shutting down the whole idea. Thank you for the answers I did not know.

At CES I saw a Samsung demo of some video tiles. They were not giving out any information beyond "real soon now" (implying 2018), but the display looked very good. For me, one negative aspect of video tiles in the home has been the very visible seams between tiles. Even up close, it was not easy to locate any seams on these units. I couldn't determine exactly how many tiles were being used and the booth person was not sharing any details. Dot pitch was very fine. At any appropriate viewing distance these tiles would welcome 4K content.

It will look awesome as soon as a little bacon grease coats the lens.

Sometimes the answer is it can’t be done. At least not without some holes in the wall, pulling up flooring, and cutting trenches in the slab.
Civil War reenactment is LARPing for people with no imagination.
