Has anyone tried it? Sonos Forums say no, but we as installers always push the limits.

It is a digital amp!!! BTL output!!!
I would say you will fry it but that depends on how well the protection circuit works.
My experience with SONOS is it will survive, even the silliest installers.

Not sure what your definition of pushing the limits is. If it is doing something that is the equivalent of a ticking time bomb, then I think in that case it could be re-defined as stupidity. Why on earth do you want to take a chance on a $500 piece of hardware?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

The forums got it right, don’t bridge. Even if you decide to ignore our advice, how do you propose to insert the phase inversion?

Sonos Connect. That way you can bridge and bi amp/wire gold plated power cord cable lifter green CD pen to your heart's content.

Why would you do this, rather than just buy a cheap, bridgeable power amp? The audio is stereo and you want to use it as a single channel?

Who ever said the Sonos Connect has a great amplifier?

Don't forget using some kind of tongs when touching the fancy cables. I prefer bamboo.

Here's a product idea: Smoke capture and restoration. Everyone knows that smoke enables the electronics world because, when its smoke escapes, the device stops functioning.

What if we could capture that smoke, then re-insert the smoke and make the device functional again? Perhaps this could involve some sort of silver or gold lined, exotic material container.

This would also open the door to discussing "cross smoke" restoration -- injecting the smoke from one device into another device. Of course, the donor device will not function, but will the recipient device sound better?

I was just telling my boss we should build nice boxes to put sonos connects in and sell them as a new high end runco'ish music streamer.

The first ham shack I was in had a sign on the wall:

TUNE FOR MINIMUM SMOKE

This was back in tube days (before transistors, and ICs had perhaps been dreamt of) when smoke could start slow and go on for quite a while before consuming the device and occasionally the shack itself. Transistors greatly increased the enjoyment of those who love sparks but reduced the enjoyment we get from watching smoke curl into the air.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

First of all you would have to be able to reverse the phase of one of the channels and set the whole thing to mono. I can't see that happening

For those not familiar with the fine points of "Bridging": [Link: en.wikipedia.org].

Also, as noted before, the CONNECT:AMP is already a BTL configuration. Connecting the speaker (-) terminals of a stereo BTL amplifier causes issues.

As an exercise, measure the voltage between the CONNECT:AMP's (-) speaker terminals. In a traditional (non bridged) amplifier this voltage would always be zero.

And/or measure resistance between them- if they're common, it may work, but it may not.

I still don't know why anyone would do this- the cost of a second Connect Amp is higher than a cheap but decent power amp. Hell, a Crown or QSC amp could be bought for that price, at full retail price. If the Sonos piece is already there, maybe they can use it somewhere else and replace it in this zone with a Connect/separate amp.
