Has anyone been experiencing recent Sonos issues where the units (Connects, ConnectAmps, Play units) are picking up interference (according to Sonos when you call them) and need to be moved, wired differently, etc.?

I understand that wireless environments change for many reasons (additional devices, neighbors with equipment, etc.) but we've had some instances lately where systems that have worked fine for 6 months-2 years are now having issues and these particular environments are relatively unchanged from what they were previously. I'm wondering if any updates have influenced their behavior.

Thanks in advance

I haven't gotten any calls about this and my personal system is all wireless with no hardwired Sonos devices, also with no issues.

I haven’t had any similar issues, nor have my customers.

I will do really mean things, such as pile wireless SONOS units on top of each other. This is not a great a great idea, but I have not had any major issues.

I can imagine that some wireless routers are poorly designed or could develop an issue that results in their splattering the band with interference. A very nearby SONOS player could be negatively effected.

It pays to check the router channel assignment. If someone has reset the router, it may have switched to “auto” channel assignment and picked an unfortunate channel.

What networking equipment are you using? There are a few brands that don't play well with multiple sonos.

Any chance there is an alarm system like comcast or vivint...etc that has been added to the network? I have seen this mess up a sonos system several times.

I've had recent unusual trouble with my Comcast internet connection, to my own home. Dropouts last only a few minute. Not too noticeable when surfing online, but very obvious with music streaming.

I've had this exact issue twice now. Sonos is now claiming connects can NOT be placed inside a rack. These are both (one is my home) systems with the first Connect wired and the others using Sonos Net.

At the client system I literally had to move the wired connect in his basement rack to sit on the top. This, after working fine for a year and a half, was the only way it would keep an adequate signal.

Do we have the same client? We just had to do exactly this last week.

At this particular client's home, they have no new technology (that we know about) that might be causing WiFi interference and their property is large enough that it is unlikely that there is interference from neighbors.

I cannot understand this comment at all. You have a wired connect, but you have to put it at the top of the rack to receive a signal? What sort of signal is it receiving?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Sonos tech support (in this instance) claimed that even though the Connect was wired, it is receiving too much interference to operate properly.

I avoid any potential wireless issues by hardwiring all the Sonos devices and then disabling the radios in every Sonos device.

This might not be practical for every job, but my projects always have the Sonos devices located inside racks so hardwiring them is not an issue.

In the rare case that wireless is needed to a portable PLAY unit, I'll add a BOOST device to provide SonosNet in the area required.

If the connect is the wired access point for other SONOS units, having CONNECT inside a metal rack is not optimum. I can accept that this arrangement worked for a while, however, it always was a fragile wireless arrangement and if the environment changed, even moving a unit just a little, this could push over the edge. Wireless interference and poor signal levels leave clear tracks in the diagnostics.
