My punch down tool has disappeared (long story) so am in need of a replacement.

The one I have been using is the Belden AX100749

I have been using this tool (not the same one) since I started in the industry and it has never let me down but am wondering what others are using.

I have seen the keystone punch downs but we use a couple different brands of keystones so don't want to purchase one for each brand and they don't help when we are doing patch panels.

The only reason I am hesitant on getting a replacement Belden unit is price ~$120. I still have the Belden Bix punch down (don't remember the last time it was used) so I don't require one with multiple tips (they will just disappear over time).

What do you guys use for your punch down tool?

I have never needed to replace the blade. The one that disappeared I had for almost 8 years and it worked just as good the last day I used it as the first day I used it.

What i meant was the blade comes out to go from male to female like the milwaukee.

Sorry misunderstood.

No there is no female portion to this unit however you can lock the blade so it doesn’t cut. I don’t think I can recal a situation where I needed to lock the blade though.

All the other ones posted Fluke, Ideal, Platinum (other than the Milwaukee ) are all the same design and probably all the same manufacturer. We have the Greenlee version at our office that I have been using for the meantime and it sucks. Doesn’t punch down properly, doesn’t cut and the thing is pretty much brand new.

I guess I was hoping that there was another style that I wasn’t aware of but it doesn’t look like it. Guess I’m going to have to bit the bullet and order the Belsen one.

I have been using a Harris (which I think now might be a Fluke) for about 20 years. They last forever. I even have a couple of Krone blades for all those Krone blocks we run into......one every 15-20 years, or so.

I’ve been using the Harris tool and I have no complaints.
