edited the headline

Guys,
Would you be so kind as to add your voices to the almost FIVE THOUSAND complaints and comments about the new UI on DirecTV receivers? I've been following it for a while, and people are pretty hot about it. Let's add some voices to those already speaking up.

Some have suggested that a class action suit or an age discrimination complaint should be brought or levied against AT&T because they have made the print objectionably small, while lowering the contrast ratio at the same time, making it harder for those whose sight is not so good -- our elders -- to see and use the UI.

Please submit something at [Link: forums.att.com].

Thank you.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

This is AT&T now. They don't give a ratt's arse about what ANYONE says. Or how many do either. You will live with it and you will like it until they decide to change to something else, just cause. Otherwise they say you can hit the road.

Well...??? why do you still have service with them Ernie? Disconnect... now... change to Cable or Dishnetwork. Or cut the cord.

Brad, it's not just me. If you have seen the new DirecTV thing, well, complain about it. If you haven't, don't discourage other people from trying, even if we fail, to make a difference.

You are missing the point.
No amount of complaining is going to make AT&T do anything different than what they want to. This is just how they are, they are famous for it. And why everyone knew as soon as they bought DirecTV, that it would slowly slip into an oblivion of crap.

My CC number was used at an ATT store- online purchase, in-store pickup. I spoke with one store manager who admitted the transaction occurred at his store and he found the date/time of the pickup but said he couldn't let me see the video, for privacy reasons. Of the person who picked up the item(s) paid for with MY card. The next guy was almost like a lawyer in the hot seat, repeatedly saying "I can tell you that because of privacy concerns".

I made this incident and ATT's response known on the Nextdoor forum- a lot of people jumped on the 'I hate ATT' bandwagon and eventually, someone from ATT chimed in with a private message. Along with the details, I added the fact that ATT is always at the bottom of the CSI surveys. Haven't heard a peep since.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

I think they spent so long as a telco provider that they think they dont have any competition and customers will still buy their services, no matter what they do.

How many total customers does ATT have? 50 million? 100? 5000 complaints wont get notices. how many would it take? 10K? Nope. It would take national media attention. Even then, not sure ATT cares about anything.

Not even worth the time to sign up to post. Complete waste of time, ATT is at the helm now. Like tuck said, it would take national media attention and even then ATT is the 1,000 lb gorilla. Hell im sure att has stake in most of the media outlets anyway.

The ONLY way they will ever pay attention is when the subscribers change service providers. Problem with that is they know most wont pay to get out of their contracts and can’t live without the NFL network. Until dish can get NFL network att can do whatever the hell they want.

Well, this might be just a 420 smoke dream, but either this guy is willing to take the time and trouble to lie in great detail, or maybe they're going to make some changes. This is from the thread.

Update: 4/20/18 - The latest update I have for everyone is that it looks like the first improvements will begin rolling out as early as later next week. The first changes will be increasing the font size, as well as changing the font color and contrast. Please note this is only the first update, so there is more to come. Also, as with any major update, times and dates are subject to change. However, I promised I would share information as soon as I had it, so I wanted to let you all know. Please keep the feedback coming - Tim, AT&T Community Strategy

Thank you so much for the feedback regarding our menu updates and UI changes. I have been monitoring this thread for several months and have been in communication with our design teams. I want to assure you that we are listening, and have been working very hard to address all the concerns that were brought up on this thread. As you are probably aware, fixes and improvements can take time to implement due to testing and other factors. With all that said, here is what I can share.

Updates being worked on:

Visual Concerns - Font color, size, and background
Navigation - Taking additional steps to get to the same selections as before the change
Responsiveness - Improve delay (lag) when moving between menu options, changing channels, and other functions

I know until these things are fully resolved, these are just words, but as a DTV user myself, I hear your feedback and we are hoping to have these updates soon. However, in full transparency, it could still be several weeks or longer before the changes are implemented.

Lastly, I am marking this as a solution. Not because the issues are fixed, but because we are aware and working on the issues. We want future community users to see that we know about it and they don't feel ignored.
