Apologies for going to the general crowd instead of the URCers, but more of you are probably here right now.

I've located the Arris code set (110) in CCP for the DCX3200-M in front of me. Problem is, that code set is under Motorola. But almost everything I need works.

What doesn't work is any POWER ON or POWER OFF under the three Arris code sets (043, 192, 216) or under any of the 18 Motorola code sets. Anyone know where to find POWER ON and POWER OFF for this cable box?

Exception: I found a power toggle in Motorola code set 8 (074). Still want discretes, but maybe that's too much to want.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

For all the arris boxes we see, I use the codes for Charter, codeset 2, (74)

Oh, but there are no discrete power codes.

I gave up on cable box Power commands years ago. I make a point of omitting them from my programs. At one point I could use power sense on the AC outlet, but these outlets have been disabled on the older boxes and eliminated on the newer boxes. On some boxes one can sense composite video -- all of this fuss to tame the power toggles. You might have some luck sensing power on a USB port.Occasionally, I'll come across an Easter Egg sort of trick that controls power, but the next firmware update often wipes these out.I tell customers to never turn OFF the cable box and warn them that a visitor might track down the box and turn it OFF anyway. While this seems crude, it has not been an issue.

110 is the correct codeset. there is no discrete power commands for the DCX series boxes (or previous gen DTC)

Leave them on and put a power button on the cable page. If it gets turned off, instruct them to turn it back on.

I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a cable box that had discrete power codes. Some did have an option for power on by a number command. There’s a common question on this forum that fits this thread.

I've heard that cable box updates often leave the box off. It's nice to know this is not universal.

I did work out that 110 was the right code set for most things, and the power command in 74 works. Thanks for the info.

074/110 has worked for Motorola boxes for 20 years and counting. They have never ever had discrete power commands. The new X1 boxes, no longer made by Motorola, have a new code set for the first time in, yes that’s right, 25 years. Still no discrete power. Just leave them on and don’t worry about it. They don’t seem to shut off with updates.

The other cable company in the area tends to use Scientific Atlanta boxes, which will turn on with a numeric key press, as long as you enable it in the settings. That setting does get erased during updates, and will have to be re-enabled once in a great while.

I always put a red button labeled "HELP" or " NO SIGNAL ?" on the cable landing page with the power command attached to it.

AND. Make sure you have power save turned off or you will be driving back. Used to, you didn’t have to worry about this but recent updates have turned it on in some boxes, even if it WAS set to off. The setting is in the menu that is accessible when the unit is turned ON, not the service menu where you press menu when the power is off.

What codeset? 195 is common for direct IR, and 202 if you use a base station.

Only if it’s an older Arris, maybe codeset 110.

Do you have an MRF 260 or 350?

The editor allows learning the commands- it works. You won't find discrete power on and off for cable boxes, though.
