Is there any way to permanently disable firmware updates on the Sony (multiple series) Android sets? Tired of having it flash the update screen even though I set auto update to off. Tired of having it kill IP control after update- even though I have auto update set to off.....see a pattern?
Why can't TVs just be monitors or at least just a Tv anymore? So done with "smart" TVs . Any other options?
Rant off, answer to original question appreciated.....

Turn off the TV's access to the outside world at the modem end...
Using smart TV's for their smarts is typically a world of hurt.
This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers.

Yes, just turn off automatic updates. It's under help, not settings.

Pro mode is much easier than I thought- doing this on every one now. My 930D had regular Android hiccups and AppleTV 4K was often in Recovery even with all CEC disables. Zero issues since Pro/Hotel enabled.

Thanks all. I googled it as well, just making sure nothing new for the 2018 models.
Looks like Pro Mode is Sonys saving grace...

Got a good laugh out of this over the years, but at the end of the day a good old “conversation” is where it’s at. Also, I wish the original URL didn’t get stepped on.

May as well close your forum account. No point being here if you just tell people to Google it. His original question was not about pro mode, so the conversation here brought him to that conclusion.

2 people in this very thread asked how to do it, I showed them in a comical way.  Lmgtfy is funny and everybody who I've used it on, goes on to use it on someone else.

Get off your high-horse.
